different pill manufacturers

I just had an acyclovir script refilled (400mg 2X a day). Instead of a smallish blue pill (coded n943) like I've received for the last yr and a half, I got slightly larger white pills (marked rx504). I saw online that this difference was due to different manufacturers. I was wondering if there is any other difference between the pills then. Is the only difference that the blue dye must have made the one version more compact?  ;D

Once a medication becomes generic, it can be manufactured by many different companies, and the pills will look different, depending on the manufacturer, and it will definitely look different (by law) from the proprietary (non-generic) pill.  Otherwise, the chemical recipe is supposed to be identical.
