Socializing, Dating and Meeting other Poz people
« on: April 01, 2007, 05:49:50 am »
I just got back to the states, and I am very excited to meet other positive people.  I have been positive since June or July 2003 and I am doing very well . (maybe not so great very lately) Anyway, because of where I lived and what I did my wife and I were forced to keep it completely under wraps or face deportation, at the least.

Outside of her and some girls we used to work with via an organazation, I have never had a conversation with another positve person.(These girls all were working girls and came to my wife directly after their first test - between my shitty understanding of the langauge and their freaking out, well, it was always us helping them. I am not complaining, that was the point.  We rarely saw any of them after a while)

Anyway, I guess I am looking forward to coming out of the closet.

I don't necessarily mean dating - I just got seperated and I don't want that yet, but I would like to just meet some people similarly situateded.   I live in downtown NYC, so would assume their is no shortage of what I am looking for, I would just appreciate a foot in the door.  I looked at some "social" poz sites and they looked kind of like internet hook-up, sex sites.  Maybe I was wrong, but I would much rather do that kind of thing at a meeting, an event, or a bar or something.

Anyone have any ideas?  Anybody know of a good site specificaly for NYC to get into the community?

I know what you mean about having contact with other HIV people. It is sort of like a brotherhood/sisterhood sort of thing. Perhaps if you found some ASO's in your area they might have some group forums that include heterosexual pozzies.
Good Luck,

Of course you might meet some here. NYC is a big city and plenty of our members live there. However, most of the active posters here do seem to play for the other team, but that doesn't means they won't be supprtive friends as nothing is hotter than bagging a straight guy. Just kidding.
