Risk Assessment?

Hello, first off I'd like to thank whoever answers this post.

I am a 19 year old gay male who has had a sexual encounter with another male. There was reciprocation of oral sex, I do have a case of a receding gum line and had a few canker sores on my mouth and throat. I did have a small nip from shaving down in the pubic area that morning, and semen may have touched that area. Also I there may have been semen on my hand when I rubbed by eyes during a shower right afterwards...(nothing visible). There was no anal sex involved. However, we both did finger each other. I realize now that I had a small cut on my finger between the nail and nail bed where the skin split due to most probably dryness from a few days ago.

Did I have a risk of contracting HIV? Moreover, when should I be tested (encounter was yesterday). I'm thinking the sooner the better, so I can stop worrying (PCR test?), but also with enough time to be most likely completely accurate.

Also, there is nothing that one can do after a day of exposure, if there was any, correct? I figure washing out the anus will only irritate and cleaning random parts of the bathroom and objects I touched and used after the encounter is just myself trying to find a mental release.

I realize myself that some of this sounds ridiculous, but when the mind wanders it doesn't stop.

You are worrying needlessly. Only unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse are confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV.

If you haven't already done so, please read our lessons on transmission and testing to get some basics down.

In instances of genuine risk such as unprotected intercourse, PEP can be begun but it must be within 48-72 hours in order to be effective. The earlier the better. But in your case there was no risk so you don't need to think about doing that.

Just to be sure to use condoms everytime if and when you get around to having intercourse.
