I have mixed thoughts on this one, prehaps because I am looking at the USA from the outside. Good people might get free PrEP sure althoug, why not sooner and why does the US government not strike a deal with Teva in 2020 to supply free to patient? Anyhow below is the news:

Gilead to Donate Up to 2.4M Bottles of HIV Prevention Pills Each Year in the U.S.
https://www.poz.com/article/gilead-donate-24m-bottles-hiv-prevention-pills-year-us

In Short:
Quote
Pharmaceutical giant Gilead Sciences will provide free HIV prevention pills—commonly referred to as PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis—to about 200,000 uninsured Americans each year until 2030. This translates to as many as 2.4 million bottles of tablets annually.

According to a Gilead press release, the medication will be given to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in support of the U.S. Initiative to End the HIV Epidemic, which Trump announced earlier this year in his State of the Union address.

Ok for some. I would rather they dropped the price so us people who have to pay for Truvada as part of our regimes could also save some money.

I have mixed thoughts on this one
well to start, this $10 million donation is only .3% (yes, not even 1%) of their $3 Billion a yr profit, so they ain't no big spender. then, while I'm all happy that PrEP users can be covered, what about all the pozzies who have been coughing up all those profits for all these years? No break for the people who actually need this med to stay alive? can't say that Gilead is doing all that much to be congratulated on. BTW when is the US Govt gonna collect on those patents profits since 2012?

oh, but, yea! :D at least they are doing "something" and this will help towards ending the HIV epidemic

Indeed, would agree with all of this.

And I see even Trump is taking credit for Gilead's fake generosity.. makes sense.

Even if you qualify for Adap/Ryan White as I do now, still Gilead's gauging the taxpayers with those ridiculous prices for a medicine that belongs to the American people anyways..

It's cheaper everywhere else except for the country who funded its development.. $8 bucks in Australia.
