Title: Time To Swallow
Post by: 27years on January 22, 2009, 03:07:03 pm
CD4 340 vl 2 000.  Finally the time has come for me to down them after debating with my mind for two years, truvada, reyataz, norvir.  I have just gulped my first dose now.  I hope i wont wake up feeling yellow.  Will keep you updated how I get on, any hints and tips are much appreciated

Those Norvirs are tasty little nuggets, aren't they?

The only times I've turned yellow from Reyataz are after using poppers.  Some members here have also reported that alcohol will do that.  Otherwise I've had no problems at all in eleven months on that combo.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Hi

My face turned a beautiful shade of light mustard a couple of weeks after starting the same combo but it only lasted about a week, I think most people only get a little yellowing in the whites of the eyes if they get anything at all, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have had no complaints or side effects from this combo...you will be fine I'm sure.

Hugs
Jan :-*

Ooh, your eyes are going to have a cool effect under florecent lighting!  :D  Noo, just kidding. I've been on Reyataz and Combivir for about five yrs now and no problems. Doctor had told me I had a little yellowing in the white of my eyes...but I don't see it when I look in the mirror except when I turn off the lights I have a light yellowish glow!  ;)  (Couldn't help it).

You'll be ok... :-*

Lots of luck!

reyataz, norvir and some other stuff here ;) Been on the reyataz for about 6 yrs and the only time I turned yellow was when I had HepB - and that was a full decade before my hiv diagnosis  ::) :D So, you may not turn yellow at all. A lot of people don't seem to mind the norvir. I hate it; but it does it's job as a booster. ;) I'd rather deal with it than a handful more of pills to get the same effect.

I think it pays to "know" about what side effects might happen; but I always take my meds never expecting anything will go wrong. (Poz thots and all that, you know ;)) Plus all those reports are saying you'll stay healthier even longer starting the meds sooner rather than later.

Gulp 'em down, and think happy thoughts. LOL  ;D

Courage.  About the yellow.  I had slight tinge in whites of eyes and even around the eyes.  It faded quickly enough.  I prefer this combo to Sustiva, which made me very edgy. If it doesn't work for you, you will find the best one eventually.  I think be careful not to overdo the looking for yellow - you can see it when others won't, even perhaps when its not really there.  Also - drink a lot of water - always a good idea anyway.

Enjoy the health benefits by the way.

I HATE Norvir, been on it for the last 3 yrs. 4 tabs a day......YUCK, every time I take them I wanna PUKE, when they break in my tummy, I complain a lot about it's side effects to my ID Doctor, but with my numbers, she's very reluctant to do any thing, or put me on something else, she says, I don't have any other than Norvir to put you on right now, due to your high resistance........ :-[

So far nothing drastic has happened, just farting more than normal and it stinks.  Thanks all for your support and wishes.

Well, to determine how drastic it is, we would have to get an idea of how stinky your farting is  ;D

Good luck on your meds man

One week on meds the farting has stopped. no side effects at all, my eyes are still the same, feels like i am drinking a painkiller though i hate the size of norvir.  I haven't even opened the anti diarrhoea or anti vomiting tablets i was given.  Will see how the numbers come on my next lab thanks to you all will keep you updated
