Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

HIV Risk ?

Hi all
2 weeks ago i had protected sex with HIV postive Women before sex with two hours i shaved my public area and i cut my self just under the peins in the balls the cut bleed for 2 minutes and then stop before i had sex i checked the cut there was no blood while sex the girl was in the top of me and she used to rest for a while during sex touching the wound i am certian that her vaginal fluids came in cantact with the cut what is my risk from this expusre ? now i have two swollen lymph nodes under my left jaw and right they are painless but big no fever till know ?plz i would like to know how llikely my symptoms due to hiv and if i am at real risk ?

You had protected sex. None of the rest of the details you mention matter in terms of HIV.

HIV requires contact with viral particles and very specific types of cells. When you have a cut, you begin to heal instantly. You do not, CAN NOT scientifically have gotten HIv from the instance you describe.

thank you for your answer ,  but what concerns me is  that the cut is just under the peins and got in to a direct contact with the vagina and it wasnt covered by a condom ,and my symptoms freaking me out  two lymph nodes very obvious and painless ?

I understand your concerns.

The thing is, people do not have sex with spurting arterial wounds - and thats what it would take for HIV to even be an issue, assuming you were contacting fluids from the female that transmit HIV - which DO NOT HAPPEN outside or on the edges of the vagina.

HIV exists in the cervical fluid, a thick mucousal layer deep inside the vagina. The fluid you most often encounter during protected sex is NOT infectious.

Moreover, its your urethra, the tip at the end of your penis, that contains the cells to which HIV latches onto.

You wore a condom for sex. Which makes it protected. Condoms provide almost a perfect seal against HIV infection - they do, in fact, provide a better protection against HIV than they do against any other STD.

You absolutely DO NOT get HIV from the activity you describe.
