AMG 2011 LOCATION FINAL VOTE

We have collected and reviewed all suggestions for the location of AMG 2011.

The top 3 destinations have been chosen and put forth for any member interested in attending AMG 2010 to vote on. Voting is limited to members only.

Voting will remain open until Monday, November 15, 2010.

Please indicate your preference from the following choices (one vote, one choice).

1. NEW ORLEANS, LA (21)

2. SEATTLE, WA (15)

3. SANTE FE, NM (14)

You may also indicate time of year for AMG 2011 to be held (however, we may end up putting it to a separate vote depending on how well that process goes).  Also, try to limit your post to your vote (if you want to put a line or two about why you think it should be held in a certain location from the above selections that is fine - but let's try to keep rationale/reasoning to a minimum and as non-duplicative as possible).  Thanks for your participation.

New Orleans!  I would save up enough to take Amtrak there (splurge for a sleeper car) and get to see some family in Slidell.  I do plan to attend the next one regardless of where we meet.

The Davids and Bonnie vote for Seattle in Aug.  If required, we will all vote separately, but this is three votes.  Personally, I won't be going to New Orleans in August.  We do far too much outside for that.  NC is hot enough; in my mind, a vacation should be nicer in terms of weather and temp. for a vacation.  

edited to add that anything except summer months will likely exclude those in school and those that work in schools (teachers, etc). 

Also, August and September are right in the heart of hurricane season; I'd hate for an actual hurricane, or even a warning of one, ruin an AMG

Bonnie and the "other" David (meaning his partner) are members of the board, though I understand your sentiments.  I'm sure David can get them to log in.  They've attended every AMG and always attend.

I feel you Ms. P - If David is unable to have them log in - if he sends me a PM with their info, I will add their votes.  I just didn't want to open the door for a whole bunch of proxy voting to start happening and have any misunderstandings or anyone think that the process wasn't being fair.

Hopefully, David, David and Bonnie understand - I'm sure if it is a problem at all that David will let me know via PM --- Definitely don't want anyone to be excluded.

Bonnie and David have log in names on AIDSmeds -- maybe they're busy with life, or sick, etc..  But I agree that people should vote with their log on names so later someone else can't say that this is unfair.

If Naw leeins,  I would suggest late spring.  I was there in Feb(?)  a couple years ago (?) post Katrina and it was still freezing early morn/late evening. Fall is hurricane season and we wouldn't want to have to cancel. They have a neat aquarium and several nice bars/diners a couple blocks from the convention center.

Actually, it we are trying to get an idea of the month at the same time sites are being voted on; however, we may end up putting the month to a vote after the site is selected - I am tracking the three sites, the votes and the months corresponding to the sites.... depending on how that goes, we may or may not need to vote on the month.

Hi ElZorro:  Many of the previous AMGs established a Grants Committee (you can do searches on it in the search box under the members listing).  We will be putting one together and will provide additional details on a thread dedicated to that topic.

Yeah..didn't find much information with that search. If whoever "we" is relies on donations from other members to fund those grants, one might advise that starting that collection process sooner than later might be adviseable

There is a JESUS! NEW ORLEANS. Definitely! I always wanted to go there. I was stationed at Keesler AFB and never got there in 1969. Ice Follies never played there.

Been to Seattle, performed there with Ice Follies in 1969. Later I had dinner there with Bill Gates at an Excel developers conference when I worked for McDonnell Douglas. It rained each time.

Santa Fe, I would consider but my vote is for New Orleans.
