Good Numbers In Hand
« on: March 17, 2008, 03:08:10 pm »
Howdy, kids!  Been a few days since your Youth Pastor was with ya, but I've been occupied and now have some stuff to share with ya.

First off, I went in to the doc's late last week and got it all arranged to start my new regimen.  I'll be dumping Kaletra (in a good way, this time) and the end of the month and switching to Reyetaz.  We discussed Prezista, Atripla and some other stuff, but decided to give this one a go for a bit to see how I liked it since it's the least amount of change from my current regimen and is most likely to give me the improvements I'm seeking without having to go through many major adjustments to dosing.  I'm down with that, and I can switch to something else if it doesn't do me right.  I got along quite famously with the meds nurse lady, and she gave me her numbers to keep on hand through the switching process so we can stay in good communication through it and evaluate how well I like it.  I'll keep her - and you folks, of course - posted.

Next, while I was there I got some suprising news.  I'm not usually the "post the numbers" sort, but this bit bears mention.  I somehow missed getting my last results, and it turns out that they've shown some pretty cool improvements.  I've been hovering in the "just below 300" range with my CD4 counts for years now, but my last labs had a suprising bolt upward!  Dig this:

CD4:  457 (which was actually a little down from 498!)
CD4 %:  27

CD8:  738
CD8%:  44

CD3:  1250
CD3%:  75

CD4/CD8 (HELP / SUPP) RATIO:  0.62  (0.90 - 3.80 is the normal range)

LYMPHOCYTE COUNT:  1671.0  (1.000.0 - 4000.0 is the normal range)

So I've actually had a big boost for a few months now without knowing it!  And though I am still ever so slightly below "normal"  right now, I had actually bumped into that range a few months back (and may actually be in there now).  So, ya know...."Go ME!" and all that.   :)

Lastly, there was some sweet icing on this little cake when later in the day I got the number for the oh-so-cute little fella that I met at my friend's house.  As it turns out, we got together on Saturday and spent all of the night and into the next day together.  Honey, let me tell ya:  it was an oh so fabulous all out Smoochin' & Snugglin' Huggy Cuddly Extravaganza!TM  I haven't had that high of a dose of pure warm affection thrown at me in years, to put it bluntly.  And I'm still humming about it now some 24 hours later.  It's well established that I'm one cock crazy queen and love teh sex, but nothing sends me to the moon like that kind of prime kissin' and lovin'.  He's got a three day weekend coming up starting this Thursday night and sounds like he wants to spend them all with me..... :)

So, hopefully, you folks won't hear much from me for a few days this next weekend either...and you'll know where I am.  I've been in a funk spot for a little while and really needed to have some sudden jolts of "good" thrown at me, and I'm so thankful for it.  Wish me some luck that this upturn continues, ok?

Good news Timmy

Nothing like a bit of kissin' and cuddlin' to warm the heart.

Why is it when I close my eyes I can see a good bottle of wine, a log fire and can hear Barry White crooning in the background....sound like spring is in the air over there... ;)

big hugs

Hey!  Thanks, everybody!

To answer the Prezista question:  The docs said they preferred to try to hold off on the Prezista because it tends to have a different mutation profile than the others, meaning that they'd like to think about whipping it out if / when resistance develops for the others.  Still, as I do not currently have resistance to anything, it is a viable option right now if I turn yellow with the Reyetaz and it doesn't fade away within a few weeks.  I believe they said that can happen in about 10% of cases, so we'll see.  The Reyetaz option was the most minimal switch option that would still possibly offer relief from the sides I've been experiencing.  I could even go back to Kaletra in a worst case scenario since I am leaving it of my own accord and not due to failure, so I am actually in a very good place treatment-wise.  All options are still on the table for me.  I can only be thankful for that.

Off to get my new witch's brew of Reyataz / Norvir today!  Still, I've got two doses of Kaletra left and this ADAP queen ain't scrapping a pill, so I will be officially starting that regimen on Saturday evening.  Also might be getting with John this weekend...dunno yet.  Kinda depends on how things pan out and how I'm feeling in relation to this new meds dealie, etc.  Hope so, though.

My bf still deals with the yellowing a bit from the reyataz, but we've found with some careful wardrobe color choices the affect can be somewhat minimized. :)
