Hi Hope , and welcome to the forum . One thing is for sure , all of us have HIV and having that in common is enough to give and get support no matter how we got here .

There are heterosexual men and woman who participate here so you will fit in just fine .
Perhaps you can tell us a bit about yourself to get the ball rolling .

I moved your thread here so it will get more views , the off topic forum you posted in is for discussing anything other than HIV .

Well ... it sounds cliché to say it but it does get better . I have been living with HIV for over 30 years and could be the poster boy for doing everything wrong if you want to live ... so with your meds and a little patience you have a full life to look forward too .

What meds are you on ?

The symptoms should subside in a week or so . Make sure to take your meds at bedtime so you can sleep through some of the short term side effects . There are other combos if you don't adjust to this one . Be sure to tell you doctor if you have suffered depression or other mood disorders , or if you begin to notice changes .

  Vahope,

Welcome to the forums.  As Jeff said it will get better with time.  Regarding the Atripla, be sure to take it on a empty stomach and not eat anything after, especially in the beginning.  This will help reduce some of the side effects.

LOL not entirely.  Back in the day when I was on Atripla, and me and the wifey was just dating, I always took her out for late night snacks.   I remember throwing up many times behind the car after letting her in.

There's many ways to work around stuff.

Atripla affects different people in different ways.  Personally I can eat a huge meal right before I take it and not have any ill effects (in fact I'm hungry for a snack right now).

Give it some time.  Most of the  really annoying side effects improve after a couple of months or so.

I remember feeling really weird the first couple of months.  But your body acclimates and it eventually becomes just another part of the daily routine.

Vahope, just wanted to welcome you to the forums.  You'll find, gay or straight, the issues are the same.  I look forward to hearing more from you.

OK, I'm not straight. But I'll tell you this, that really doesn't matter much.

Feel loved and accepted. HIV is a virus. It's not gay, nor are you.

Thinking of you, and all you're working thru.

auspoz.

Welcome to the forums, vahope. I too am a straight male living with HIV..but like others have said, your sexual orientation is of little consequence here..what matters is that this group does know what you are going through and you are not alone.. There should be a support group somewhere near where you live, they will welcome you..

First, welcome to the forums.  As others have mentioned, this virus doesn't care about sexual orientation and most of us progress in the same manner without treatment.

I'm sure most of us will try and accept your sexual orientation and be as supportive as possible. ;)
