Scared -- help!
« on: November 20, 2017, 06:50:02 pm »
So I had unprotected sex with this dude somewhere around 11/3/17 where I was the receptive partner (He did not ejaculate inside me as I refused him to do so). He told me he was clean and is taking PreP and I saw him taking Truvada, so I believed him (with no other regimens). I was anxious and shortly after few days, I start experiencing these symptoms like malaise, itching a lot but with no rash, lack of appetite, body ache, and dry coughing. There was this also mild discomfort in my penis but that could be due to the urine test I had while I was passed out smoking weed and drunk (They might have stick an IV up my urethra for all I know).

I texted and called him but only find that he blocked me on every form of social media there is... And my first thought immediately suspected that he had been lying to me, so I quickly went to my school clinic and got tested three days after the fact. All results came back negative as I continue to these mild symptoms. There was no fever, however.

There is this interesting bloodwork done for me while I passed out (which was like a day or two after the sex). My neutrophils skyrocketed with my lymphocytes had been plummeted. I had been in a cold before I had sex with him, but I don't know.. It could be anything.

Can someone please help?

He told me he was clean

Cool, I also wash and am very clean. I also happen to be living with HIV, it does not make me dirty.

Anyhow him taking PrEP and claims to be HIV negative mean nothing. - Nothing at all. Ill go one futher and say he could even have tested that morning, still means nothing to you as all it reflects is his status some 3 months ago as it takes that long to show up in tests.

You engaged in unprotected intercourse the primary route of HIV transmission risk in adults. My advice is to test at 13 weeks post incident for HIV antibodies and move on with your life, remember to test for other easier to transmit STI's whilst you are at it.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Are any of the symptoms that I've described match with the symptoms that of the primary HIV seroconversions? I'm REALLY REALLY scared. Also, IF i were to test positive for HIV, can I sue him for reckless endangerment in NY? He straight up lied to me.

No, most people experience no symptoms or too mild to notice during primary infection hence we do not asses them, testing is the only way to know.

I wish you all the best when you test, guidelines are to test 6 weeks post incident and again at 13 weeks to confirm the results.

Sue for what? Anyhow this is HIV risk assessments, I don't give legal advice.

From a transmission point of view, you agreed to unprotected intercourse, you know this a risk for STI's and HIV. Agreeing to unprotected intercourse is agreeing to this risk, like I said he could test in the morning negative and still be in the window before testing would show positive and he would unaware of this yet highly infectouise at the time.

Hence you should be simply protecting yourself always no exceptions, its your sexual health and responsibility.

Not if he knowingly distributes and transmits HIV.
It is a criminal offense in NYS.

aha and? Like I said your in the wrong forum for that.

If you are going to be sexually active there are responsibility's that come with it, to agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the greater possibility of being infected with an STI and a HIV risk.  Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but HIV is forever.

Going forward look after yourself, use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions and test regularly.
