I'm surprised The CC of BB got as many nominations as it did.  It was a good movie, but it didn't move me the same way the Slumdog Millionaire did.  I can see it taking home a couple statues in some of the costume/editing/lighting categories, but I don't really see it winning any of the major awards.

No surprise at Heath Ledger's nod.

I wonder if this is going to finally be the year they call Kate Winslet's name.  It's always a bridesmaid never a bride for her at the Academy Awards.

Yeah, so now I'm going to have to go see Benjamen Button.  I wasn't sure about seeing it before, as it's gotten mixed reviews.  I'm waiting for Frost/Nixon to come here.  I also want to see The Wrestler.

I wasn't surprised but still saddened that the Academy kept The Dark Knight out of the major categories (except for Heath Ledger's nom).  Aside from LOTR, they tend to have swung away from the biggest movie of the year -- and better reviewed than many of the films that did make the cut.

That's a really mixed bag. I am surprised in a pleasant way that "Milk" is there, cos it's my favorite of the year. I like "Frost/Nixon" though I am not old enough to have strong feeling about the politics. I stick to my view that "Slumdog Millionaire" is overrate. "Benjamin" puts me to sleep and I haven't seen "The Reader", though Kate Winslet is a good enough reason for me to go see it (she's superb in "Eternal Sunshine..").

Well, I pick "Milk" just because I want it to win, but I don't think Hollywood is ready to give the index finger to the conservative rightwing Christian groups yet, but "Benjamin" is probably good to win...

I saw 'The Wrestler' this past weekend.  Mickey Rourke gave a show-stopping performance (he's up for best actor).  I really, in all honesty, can't decide between he and Sean Penn.

I haven't seen The CC of BB or F/N yet  ... but I've still got a day.  ;)

I really enjoyed Milk and think Sean Penn did a great job.

Slumdog Millionaire was great feel good movie.

The Reader had me crying like a baby.   :'(

I haven't seen any of these movies and can't until they come out on video.  But, what I just had the pleasure of seeing last night was "The Changling".  It was a most excellent movie.  I'm not an Angelina fan, but she didn't detract from the movie.  The fact that it was a true story and stuck very closely to the actual events only lends to the experience.

For a preview into the real-life events, google Christine Collins.

As good as James Brolin was in Milk, if only one supporting actor nom could come from the movie, I would've much more picked James Franco.
