I was diagnosed last January after being admitted to the hospital with PCP.... Started on Kaletra and Truvada..   During my hospital stay the doctor stopped all meds for two days while attempting to find out why my White blood cells dropped sharply..... I restated meds after two days...
I am worried that this would  cause resistance.... Everything I seem to read indicates stopping the meds is not a good idea....

It has been 10 months so far ... and I don't have a problem.... But yet I still worry about the stopping and restarting.... 

Has anyone had a similar episode?  I am probably worried about nothing....

Hi, welcome to the forums.

While stopping and starting meds isn't recommended and can lead to resistance, because your doctor stopped and started them at the same time, you should be fine.

When talking about failure to take meds, people are usually referring to those who skip doses. An example would be someone who takes their morning dose, but forgets or just ignores the evening dose.

This type of behavior can, and often does, lead to resistance.

It sounds like the doctors had things well in hand and you should be fine.

After a year on meds, how are your numbers doing?

My number or are now in my signature.... CD 4 has been up and down... I to hit 200 sometime soon...

If you have resistance your viral load will rise.

Stopping these meds for 2 days will not lead to resistance.

You do not have resistance to your meds (that is to say it is very, bery unlikely your 2 day break has created mutations which are resistant to your current combo).

  My Med Combo has been good to me... Wish it was once a day... But seems to be working well...
