Amoeba: Blastocystis, Histolytica and Coli?
« on: April 12, 2010, 04:46:12 pm »
I posted here that I was diagnosed with not one but three different types of amoeba: Blastocystis, Histolytica and Coli. I went on a course of Flaggyl and since then my life has been hell. Not even any HIV med I have ever taken made me feel like this.
Even thought almost a month after i was done with at times I can not cant eat anything too rich, I am constantly with abdominal pain and discomfort. My doctor says it wil take up to a year to my stomach to be what it used to be?

I want to ask for an endoscopy.

Anyone had anything similar to this?

SUCKS!

Sorry you're having problems, but not uncommon after your treatment.

By all mean, get the endoscopy if you and your doctor think that there is an underlying situation.

I suffered with I.B.S. (irritable bowel syndrome) from having been on all this antibiotic for some time.

I had to get a balance back into my digestive system with probiotic supplement and a good diet to get things up and running again.

It took me four months to do so.

PS I did go for the endoscopy and it was fine and probably for nothing, but it was suggested since I turned 50.

Best of luck.

I recommend probiotics (a good one with a broad spectrum, such as Vitamin Shoppe's Ultimate 10 Probiotics) as well as fiber and a good healthy diet, such as what's known as the "Mediterranean Diet."

With the fiber not a huge amount, maybe start with a good high fiber cereal in the morning, along with fruit. Some of the fiber supplements such as Metamucil have lots of added sugars so that's not a good idea.

This kind of eating is actually a good lifestyle choice, with the occasional rich or fatty or sweet food only every once in a while as an indulgence.

Thanks on top of all that there was also a horrid yeast infection.
I am already taking probiotocs and I eat really well. I guess I just have to be a bit more patient. It is just because it has been so long already...
Thanks everyone...
