Title: possible dental work
Post by: jaace24 on April 29, 2013, 11:46:40 am
What is everyone's experience with dental work on here after being positive?  I need to make an appointment for a cleaning, but I have some gum recession on the lower part of my bottom front teeth.  I am worried that I may have to have some gum tissue transferred from the roof of my mouth.  I am just wondering about CD4 and how they would be infected by this and would they come back, etc.  If anyone else could share their experience with dental surger or anything and how it impacted your health.

If you need surgery it wont affect you CD4 counts or viral load . With all surgery you run a slight risk for infection that could be harmful to anyone , however that chance is probably too low to dwell on .

Just make sure you Dentist knows your HIV status and lab numbers , if he thinks you are a candidate for surgery then I would say go for it .
