Finally Some Good Research News

Best of all it only costs on average $42 per year and can stave off heart disease (assuming of course 100% adherence levels).

Ok.
But I'll be the first one to ask:

"100 g would be roughly equivalent to 1 premium-quality bar containing at least 70% cocoa."

How does this cost 42 bucks a year?  ??
Here in Switzerland, a store-brand but good quality chocolate bar is 1.70 for 100g.
http://www.leshop.ch/leshop/Main.do/direct/fr/Search/chocolat%20100g/
620 CHF a year
But there are sales, and there's always the politically incorrect German discounters Lidl & Aldi so maybe 1CH a bar - though don't let your PC friends and colleagues see the label cause they will lecture you for shopping there... So lets say best price at 365 CH a year.

Which equals 380 USD a year.

Or 645 USD a year, paying normal price at my standard neighborhood no frills Swiss supermarket (Migros.)

So 42 bucks in the US?  Isn't that 11.5 cents a day.  Or have I missed something here.

Well its a British study.  So I guess high quality dark chocolate is a dime a bar in London.  Right.....

Speaking of Swiss chocolate.  I was recently in Boston on bidness and stopped by a Swiss chocolate store called Teuscher's.  Apparently they fly in their chocolate from Switzerland.  I must say...was sooooooo good.  But definately a bit pricey..More than $42 I must say.

Teuscher is good but its a bit of a mysterious company.  It is Swiss made but they have virtually no presence in stores here.
As for luxury chocolate I think Belgian is often better. Anyway I can't afford luxury chocolate very often anywhere and there is good stuff everywhere.

A side story. I teach one or two adult ed classes every year.  They are always chatting away about this or that.  One younger very pretty bombshell often travels to Egypt and North Africa.  She said he learned to never say she was Swiss because everyone thinks you are a moneybag and tries to rip you off.  Definitely a tendency I can attest to.

Anyway she says she is Belgian.  So the egpytian shop owner was going on and on about who great Belgian chocolate is, best it he world, blah blah blah, and she got very offended!

These little countries in Europe take their national reputations on such products very seriously.  You'll never get French ladies swearing to any American makeup or perfume, that's for sure.
