Title: just to confirm
Post by: selrad on March 29, 2010, 10:51:15 am
I have read the lessions and had  very good knowledge about hiv transmission. About 2.5 months back I was with a CSW. No any type of penetrative sex. She sucked my scrotum several times and gave me handjob. I know handjob and scrotum sucking is zero risk for hiv transmission. But I would like to know the risk was same during the time of solar eclipse? I had tested negative at 8 weeks by MEIA antibody test.
Should I worry about the encounter during solar eclipse?

sel,

You're joking, right? Of course a solar eclipse is NOT going to make any difference whatsoever to you hiv test.

You claim to know a lot about hiv transmission, but if you did, you would not have bothered to test over your NO RISK situation. Your test result is not going to change, whether there's a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse or a total eclipse of the heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw5Vcnjv5Bo).

thank you Ann. Testing was not done during solar eclipse. That encounter was during the time of solar eclipse. I am thinking that was a no risk situation. But I would like to hear the word "NO RISK" from you and Andy Velez.

Sel,

Solar eclipses have NOTHING to do with hiv risks. Neither do lunar eclipses, tides, wind, rain or snow.

YOU HAD NO RISK.

Title: Another situation
Post by: selrad on August 23, 2010, 07:17:30 am
while I was with an escort a week ago, she bit my shoulder and thigh twice. It was not hard and no visible blood on her mouth and my body. The shoulder skin got reddish. No insertive sex was there. was there any transmission possible from the hickey through her teeth?

No risk.

Biting is not a risk for HIV transmission.

The ONLY confiirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. If you consistently use a condom everytime for those activities you will be well protected. Period.

Dear Andy Velez and others.
Further to my post on 23rd August, though you told “no risk” I would like to say what is in my mind and seek additional clarification. I am from India. Three weeks before I was with a young escort.  I received only handjob from her. I got my mind ease because I thought that I have done only safe sex activities. After some time while recalling my risks, suddenly I remembered that she did bite my shoulder hardly once. She told me that the skin got reddish. She did bite me for excitement not with angry. At that time I felt pain for 1 or 2 hours and I didn’t check anything.  After that I felt nothing there. The site cdc.gov tells that hiv transmission does occur from a bite by "Severe trauma with extensive tissue damage and the presence of blood and no risk if the skin is not broken". I didn’t check the presence of blood on my neck and her mouth too. If my skin was broken extensively I should know because it needs stitches. Under these circumstances should I worry about hiv and do I need testing?  What are the chances of infection if there was a little cut on my shoulder from the bite and presence of blood in her mouth? Still it is “no risk”?
Thanks in advance
I won’t ask any follow up questions.

Sel,

Regardless of what the CDC says about biting, not one person has ever been infected through a bite and you aren't going to be the first.

You need to let this go.

To Ann
I am going to take the medical report tomorrow for my abroad employment visa. Hence I am in little nervous and scare. You told “not one person has ever been infected through a bite and you aren't going to be the first”. But the site http://www.aidsmap.com/resources/Biting/page/1322751/ says, there were 4 cases of hiv transmission by human bite. Further the site tells "A follow-up of thirty healthcare workers who cared for a patient with AIDS who bit them showed no cases of seroconversion". www.aidsmap.com is listed in our State official website for HIV reference like yours. Kindly bear with me all these questions. In India we can’t ask anything about HIV even with Doctors. For the risk assessment of my exposure, I can be confident that this was a zero risk exposure. Is it not? “If saliva contains blood, enzymes of saliva will deactivate the virus in the blood” is correct? Let me know when a human bite is risk for HIV infection? I believe you all and I am expecting some encouraging words before going for my medical tests.
Thank you very much and again bear with my questions even they are silly.

From the same URL you posted. A follow-up of thirty healthcare workers who cared for a patient with AIDS who bit them showed no cases of seroconversion.

Even though you people didnt answer directly to my questions, I am clarified from the following replies by your other threads.
Matty the demand:
"Even if a bite from an HIV positive person is severe enough to make you bleed, you will not contract HIV from it. Saliva contains numerous proteins, enzymes and other substances which inhibit the virus. "

RapidRod
"You don't get HIV from a bite, unless it causes a major laceration and the cut is deep"

Ann
"You didn't have a risk of hiv infection through this bite. IF you had just punched her in the mouth BEFORE she bit you, and she was bleeding profusely, then you MIGHT have a TINY risk. But, as she wasn't dripping with blood when she bit you, you didn't have a risk. Seriously."

I have one question.
I was taking nimisulide 100 mg, levofloxacin 500 mg and wikoryl for 4 days for my throat infection and fever. if i test tomorrow is there any chance for FALSE POSITIVE?
Thankyou

Sel,

No, the meds you have taken will not result in a false positive or a false negative for that matter.

You did not have a risk for hiv infection in anything you've brought to us so a negative result is a foregone conclusion.
