Anyone out there with Blackberry phones? Need help....
« on: November 01, 2010, 07:26:45 pm »
Anyone out there with a Blackberry phone? I just got one last month and love it so much better than the Samsung touchscreen I had. I have been downloading apps like crazy. It seems somewhere I did something which caused my Quick Launch Icons that are usually at the bottom of the screen to disappear. They are on the home screen but I can't get them to be at the bottom of the screen for quick access.

Before anyone says it, I have already been to the Blackberry site and looked in Tech Support but couldn't find anything relatively close to what my problem is. I think I may have the Blackberry Team on Twitter stumped because I even asked them. They gave me a wrong solution. So I figured I would try on here..Help!!!

Hmmmm did you adjust the Theme settings? I know there you can edit the layout and maybe one of them is to have the Quick Launch Icons. I know some themes bypass this in favor of a specific look.

Hello- I have one for work, so I don't have many apps on it.  My suggestion is to head over to options and applications, scan the list to make sure it's still installed.  If it is, remove it.  Then head back over to appworld to reinstall it.

The first six apps that appear in your main menu will appear at the bottom of your main screen.

Go to your main menu by pressing the button to the left of the ball.  Highlight the app/function you would like to appear on your main screen.  Press the button to the left of the ball and choose "move."  Move the app/function so it appears as one of the first six icons.

Hope this helps.

Numberguy---Yeah, I tried the theme setting, it won't allow me to do anything but reset theme. When I do that I have to put all my icons back the way I had them.

Dennis---That is for moving applications from the application folder to the home screen. My problem is that I now have the home screen and then this background pic that came with phone. But none of my quick launch icons are at the bottom.

Cliff--If I do that, what application would I be looking for exactly?

And I appear to still have the Blackberry Help Team still stumped over on Twitter. So far 3 have sent me suggestions but none of them work.

Queen,

As I understand it, the position of the icons (left of screen or at the bottom of the screen) is determined by the creator of the theme. For example your network provider may have a default theme and this may show icons on the bottom. If you downloaded and installed a new theme (or chose a different one already installed on the device) and this theme's setting is that the icons appear on the left then that is fixed and there isn't anything you can do about it other than to choose a different theme which has been designed to show the icons at the bottom.

If you want to be able to choose more themes for your device, it is possible to unlock the ones which are pre-installed but that you cannot see: http://forums.crackberry.com/f16/how-unlock-all-vendor-themes-1595/

Thanks Realist. It has been solved by The Blackberry Team on Twitter. I had to do a clean wipe of everything and then do a back up. Thank the Goddess I had backed things up on the 29th. So now I have my icons back where they belong...Yay!!!!
