A temporary remedy for atrophy of the buttocks:
« on: July 29, 2010, 09:22:49 pm »
For so many of us sitting can be torture, especially on a hard surface.  Plus, it would be nice to fill those jeans out again like our younger days.  I do lunges, stair climbing, all sorts of exercises for the buttocks and have seen some results.  Not suggesting to stop these exercises but I'm considering looking into padded underwear.  If nothing else it is a quick fix.  There are some big designer names that manufacture them and prices are reasonable.

Try www.underneath.com.  Hopefully that will take you to their web site.  Click on mens, then briefs, then shaped styles.  You'd be surprised all that is available.  Probably as close to 100% cotton would be best.  I'm looking at the CK brand, although there is a lot out there.

I say why not!  We need our vanity too!

The best thing I ever did for my skinny ass was to hike. Of course, I was feeling better in those days. But when I'm well enough, I could really feel the difference.
JM- I think you're on the right track with the exercise and stair climbing. Thanks for the link. I think I'm best off with the boxers though. I've never had an "ass" anyways lol.

I'm still a competitive athlete, and suffer from lipo.  I do better when I'm in a work out phase and my butt seems to add just enough more muscle so I only have to use a thin pillow on my seat at work.  When I'm not lifting--damn--ouch.  Thicker pillow.

Liopdystrophy is a cellular dysfunction of body fat, or adipose tissue -- exercise may build up muscle, but it does not replace such subcutaneous fat no matter how much you'd like to think so.  It's a permanent condition.  What you are seeing is an increase in muscle, not fat.

I've been told this by at least three HIV specialists.

So its muscle?  Of course lipo is a loss of fat and YES when I'm training my muscle mass increases and I get the benefit of adding a few pounds due to a different diet.  The consequence is the same:  during training--one pillow.  Not training= either a thicker pillow or two small ones.  Why is this any of your concern and please stop IM'ing me.

It's still not reversing the depletion of fat.  Ask any doctor.

This is, of course, my concern and I have a right to express it -- basically my right is derived from having lipoatrophy in my buttocks, and having had this for 12 years, thank you very much.  And yeah, I've spent plenty of time in gyms.  Doesn't change my ass, nor does it make the massive veins in my legs improve, i.e. cabling.  There's simply no way to reverse a cellular dysfunction like lipo -- if you had HIV wasting then that's a different story as it's a different medical situation.  I trust, in your infinite wisdom, that you know the difference between lipoatrophy and HIV wasting.

I can hear that 80s song "I Like Big Butts" blaring everytime we all appear in the club wearing our Booty Boxers. ;D

I'll be interested to see if they help. It is not just the sitting that is a bother, it is that most chairs also cut off the ciruculation in my legs.

HUGS,

I've been pos for 24 years now and am still lean, healthy, undetectable and gained muscle tone everywhere except my butt. Well, I started biking about 3 months ago and tend to ride about 10 miles each Sunday. I did notice fast results in my thighs getting more muscular than ever and my hips are getting rock hard but not growing too much. I guess I'll never get that bubble butt I'd like so I won't mind getting those padded butt undies I saw on the web page! Lol. ;D Thanks for posting that sight JM1953.

funny forum, made me laugh. I'll bet I've got the skinniest ass,but then YOU'RE not going to find out--lol.The underwear thing sounds interesting, always wondered how they might work. I wonder too,why can't they take the extra fat from my "love handles" and put it in my skinny ass? Anyone know the answer to that question?Oh well, life's too short to fret over my butt anyway.

UPDATE! Well I finally bought those padded undies which look like panties with pillows on the hips! Lol. I haven't worn them yet, but I will next month at the Toronto Mr. Leather competition. I'll be with my honey bear but won't tell him about it. If he says something about my ass, then the cushioned panties worked! I'll keep you guys updated...(I'm cracking up just thinking about it!) I'll also smack anybody that lifts up my leather kilt  :D

Thanks for the chuckle.   At least most of you can look back and know that you at least had a nice ass at one time.  I was 130lbs when diagnosed in college, and haven't been much heavier than that my entire life.  So at least enjoy your memories and I'll day dream.   Smiles to all!

THANK YOU!  I checked that link out and I'm definitely ordering some.  What with lipoatrophy and 3 years of Demerol injections in my butt (for chronic pain), I can hardly sit sometimes.  These may be a godsend!
