Shipping medication from BKK to HK - anyone experienced?
« on: May 23, 2020, 10:01:30 am »
Hi,
New here. Apologies if this question has been asked previous, if so please kindly direct me to the thread - I couldn't find if this topic has been discussed.

I travel to BKK every 6 months for regular check-up, due to Covid-19 I am not able to go back for check-up and my medication is running low. So the clinic in BKK arranged to ship for a few months supply, unfortunately HK Customs checked the package and found it was medicine. At the moment the package is being held at the customs - apparently I need a license which obviously I do not have. (I didn't know neither did the BKK clinic)

*Wondering if anyone experienced shipping medications from BKK to HK?
Most importantly now - how do I get the medications back from the HK Airport Customs?

I am desperately needing the medications.

I am not from HKG so cannot say much on the customs rules.
If they say it is not possible without proper doc. then most likely you will not be able to collect meds.

If i am at your situation, I would “plea” with them using letter from BKK Dr.
Perhaps someone from NGO can try speaking with customs.
Very unlikely both this will works. Just ask them again  if there is any way to collect.

We do no know when covid will last. When boarders will open. So, I think “plan b” is needed which is look for a local ID Dr in HKG & getting medication in HKG. I am sure HKG has treatment for ppl poz.

No experience with mail to HK but I also lost a shipment out of BKK that way, couldn't retrieve it.
DHL and UPS required my license to export medicine on another occasion; I was successful with ordinary non-registered surface mail then.
Unfortunately the regular Thai post system is not guaranteed in this Covid19 time.
