Post by: Rabbit on July 30, 2006, 08:45:01 am
Dear all,

First, I would like to say that I am so happy to know this forum, which has really helped  me much since I knew my lover infected with HIV.

My question is what my lover and  I should do to prevent me from infrection from my lover? Please teach me clearly so that I could live a normal life to take care of my lover?

If you are an HIV positive and your partner is negative ( or vice versa), could you please teach us? I am grateful to you for Your valuable experience and advice .

Tiger, have you read the lesson on transmission on this site? Unprotected intercourse, whether anal or vaginal, is the riskiest activity sexually. As long as the penetrating partner consistently uses a condom for intercourse you should be fine.

Receiving oral is not a risk for the receiver. It is a risk mainly in theory for the giver, although there have been a very, very small number of transmissions orally. Even some of those are questionable as to reliability. So as far as giving oral is concerned, it really depends on your comfort level with what risk you are willing to take.

There have been several longterm studies of sero-dystonic couples in which there was lots of protected intercourse and unprotected oral. The results were that not a single negative partner became infected. You draw your own conclusion from that.

Along with the importance of consistently following safer sex guidelines with regard to using latex condoms, it's also important for partners dealing with this issue to be as simple and direct with one another about their feelings and concerns. Staying open in that manner helps to maintain and even deepen the intimacy in the relationship.

Many thousands of sero-dystonic couples are having good lives together including sexually while protecting the status of the sero-negative partner and you can do the same. Some of them are members of this Forum and I expect you will likely hear from them.

Cheers,
