Question about expired condom
« on: March 15, 2010, 07:25:39 pm »
I am a gay male and received unprotected oral sex.  We also masturbated each other.  I am concerned that I could get HIV from either the oral or masturbation. While I was jacking him off it is possible I got some of his ejaculate on my hand and then used the same hand to do myself.  Could some of his ejaculate gotten into the head of my penis? I also noticed a cut on my hand the next day.  I'm not sure if it was there when we messed around or not.  About ten days later my temp was 98.9 and I also had runny nose.  I am concerned about the oral, cut or maybe getting into the head of my penis.  Please let me know if you think I am at risk.  Thank you so much.

Receiving oral is one of the most common of sexual activities. In the entire history of the epidemic there has never been a single confirmed case of transmission in that manner. It's safe to say you won't make history by becoming the first.  No form of masturbation is a risk for HIV transmission.

The only confirmed sexual risks for HIV transmission are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Always use condoms for those activities and you will be protected from HIV as far as sex goes. It's just that simple.

You are worrying needlessly. There is no need for testing about this recent incident.

Question about expired condom
« Reply #4 on: July 22, 2010, 09:14:43 pm »
I bought condoms 2/09 and used one on 5/10.  I didn't even think about checking the expiration date.  Is there anyway it could have been expired.  They were bougt at Walmart so it's not like they sat on the shelf for a long time at a gas station or something.  When I took the condom off I don't remember it looking torn but didn't examine it.  Do I need to be concerned?  Thanks.

Im sorry.  What do you mean about not posting same topic?  This is the first time I've asked this questions.  What did I do wrong?

If your condom broke, you would have known about it. It's very obvious when they break. You're ok this time, but in future, please make sure you check the use by date.

Can someone tell me how risky it is to have unprotected oral sex with a man (giving and receiving)?  I've heard different things.  Thanks.

Not a risk at all for HIV. There are STDS that you can contract from oral sex.

Regarding receiving oral sex there has never been a single confirmed case of transmission in that manner. It's safe to say you won't make history by becoming the first. As far as giving oral sex, from time to time there are reports of someone insisting that's how they became infected. They never seem to hold up under careful scrutiny. Your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV.

Of course if you have a yawning and freshly bleeding wound in your mouth or dramatically poor oral care then it would be prudent to not give oral under those circumstances. But with a fresh wound in your mouth or rotting teeth and gums, those hardly seem the circumstances for giving oral anyway. Scientific evidence from longterm studies support that giving oral is not a risk.

Science and experience do support that sexual risk is about unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.
