If you want to know how to eat healthy, look around at what most of the Americans are eating around you and then pick something else!  ;D

Honestly, when I lived in France and Switzerland, I never gained the weight I thought I would with all the great food. Mostly it was because it wasn't processed food and was balanced.

If you want to try cooking but don't have the practice, then I suggest this as a starting cook book:
http://www.rakuten.com/prod/easy-meals-with-just-3-ingredients/214104798.html?listingId=212281160&scid=pla_google_BookCloseouts&adid=17260&gclid=CJrLx4Dt2b0CFYFhMgodnBwAEw

The recipes use simple and fresh ingredients and are fairly easy to make.  It says each meal is just three ingredients and is mostly follows that if you don't count the spices.

thanks man but first 3 pages were already too much for me:)
i was thinking more about some simple diet for 7 days that i can stick to.
i really don t enjoy food too much...i mean, i like to eat good but with this lifestyle in new york and being single...cooking for my self on daily basis is kinda pain in the ass.
if i have someone to cook for it would be different story but this way i just want something simple and easy to make.

I eat turkey wraps allot because they are quick and easy as well as a healthy alternative to sandwiches . Im a diabetic and turkey wraps do not raise my blood sugar and is lipid friendly . You can google them and find ways to make them that suits your taste .

An added benefit was I have lost weight by eating low carb low calorie ingredients .

Muratti, the school marm in me is coming out.  There isn't a simple no brainer solution for your diet.  If you really have no clue about nutrition, its time you learned a little bit about it, the basics - fat, carbs, protein, alcohol, and the different kinds of fat, simple and complex carbs, and then actively figuring out what works for your taste, budget, and lifestyle, to keep you healthy for decades to come.
If you aren't a reader, there are other options - you might find a short basic nutrition workshop at a community or health centre or adult ed centre. Or, depended on how you get your health care, you might be eligible for meetings with a nutritionist who will lay it out for you, and put you on the right track.

Proper diet is not just learning about what to eat but also how to eat.  Study and learn the basics and you can make sound food decisions.  I despise fast food restaurants but even they have some healthier alternatives.

I would also suggest that healthier meals are quicker to prepare than standard fare.  I detest dinners out as entertainment and usually prepare my meals in mere minutes.

I will eat between 4 to 8 times a day, depending upon what I am doing.  I love yogurt, cheese and fresh veggies or fruits for snacking all day.  I rarely eat a large meal and our grocery stores have almost anything you want, already prepared so variety is not a problem.  I no longer eat much processed food as I would rather have a  small piece of meat or fish, veggies or rice and a salad.  Bread is also a big factor, as I can get it fresh daily and there is nothing better than a croissant or baguette with just about anything.

What an odd question . I bet he is enjoys the a level of fabulousness that he can afford based on his own taste just like all of us .

I think he is trying to broaden his horizons since this is not his native country and I also think since he is so new to HIV that we are the only folks he has to talk to right now .

i can't get a clear read on the level of seriousness to this thread, so will admit to poking a little fun at OPs expense. i've meant no harm or offense. humble apologies if either were felt. in any of my travels i've always gone out of my to eat local stuffs. muratti, i'd be happy to break bread with you and eat whatever food you grew up on.

i do advise against raw pickled salmon in the netherlands after an afternoon at the coffeeshops

There are plenty of nutritious meals that don't require cooking.  A fresh fruit and veggie plate takes mere minutes.  An Evening salad with some cottage cheese takes mere minutes also.

Some grilled tofu requires little effort.

I use "allrecipes.com" on a regular basis to check out simple meals.

I personally think it's requires more time to prepare to go out to dinner than it takes to do it yourself.

I lived in NYC for 15 years and didn't have my appetite or diet suffer because of it. Don't blame the city for something you're doing on your own. Learn to cook and go to the loads of farmers markets they have there. It's not that complicated.

I'm probably the last person to be giving dieting advice.  Not sure how our dieting habits are going to assist you.  Too many variables.

I don't necessarily eat everyday and some days I eat twice.  That doesn't help you much.   ;)

The list of things I will eat is much shorter than the list of things I won't.  My preference is anything that grows from the earth.

Muratti,

There comes a point when it is time to put your "big boy pants" on and this is as good a time as any.  While I understand you want to learn how to live with HIV, being spoon fed information by posters here, will do little to teach you anything.  If you want to live with HIV, or better yet, to THRIVE with HIV you need to get a grip and start living.

You know what would be most beneficial to you, so start doing it.  We can only offer advice and suggestions, as your success or failure to live as you wish, is within your control.  I realize this may not be what you want to hear, but you really need to stop making excuses for those things you think you cannot do and work on doing the things you can.

Living with HIV is a life-long learning experience and the best experience is that which we give ourselves.

Muratti, everyone has pretty different daily routines and needs for food.

When you say you forget to eat, what do you mean?

I am pretty sure you could be well fed with one "real meal" a day and snacks - it all depends what is in the real meal, and the snacks.....

What is your body weight, body type?  Are you underweight - skinny, more in the average range, or overweight, chubby?

What is the goal?  Weight loss?  Weight gain?  Healthy food?  what?

Muratti,

You are not bothering anyone and we do understand how hard it can be to find a balanced life.  My point was like the adage: "Feed a person a fish and you feed them for a day.  Teach that person to fish and you feed them for a lifetime."  Your goals would be easier to reach, if you learn the process of buying and preparing your own meals.  While cooking is not rocket science, it takes time to learn and do it properly.  There are many meals that are easy to make, taste great and provide good nutrition.  You just have to learn how to prepare them and find the will to do it.

You need to find a way to live, where you live and the only one that can do that is you.

You're not bothering anyone.  But I obviously recognize many code words within your thread and don't want to front you out too much.  A little self honestly goes a long way and owning it is important.  Typically, people who have a healthy relationship with food don't forget to eat.  That usually indicates an avoidance issue or that you've already lost the ability to feel and recognize hunger from past issues/episodes.

best wishes

Its rare that there is not an effective combo to go to in cases of resistance issues so you need not worry that this may happen to you . Just wait for the test and know that even if you are resistant to a few meds there are still options left . Its probably not going to happen anyway .

i just got my first results after 3 weeks of medications ( truvada prezista norvir ) and my viral load went from 7400 to 400 and my tcells from 487 to 554.
also i got genotype test and it says type B and under lots of mutations...
in paragraph where are the types of medications everywhere says sensitive...can someone explain to me what that means. does it mean that medications works or not?
also i got positive result for HPV...is that dangerous?

Good results.
Sub Type B is the most common.
Sensitive is good.  It means hiv is sensitive to the medication.  resistant means there's the right combo of mutations to make your hiv resistant to the particular drug.

Is there a column next to your drug component names that has mutations listed as impacting them?  If they're all blank, there is nothing at all to worry about.  If there are some, you can still be undetectable (I was) as long as HIV is still resistant to all of your meds, although you could consider switching to a combo with 0 mutation impacts.

Yes you can . Have fun and don't drink and drive and all that stuff your momma would warn you about .

Its not going to harm you to use poppers from time to time unless you have an allergy to some of the ingredenets .

hi guys.
freaking out again here.
so i got test results again from my doctor after 3 months
it is good i am undetectable and my t cells are 481 although they were 600 last time.
but what worries me is that now it says that hep A is reactive
and  HEPATITIS Bs Ab QUAL also reactive
only non reactive result is HEPATITIS BS AG
can someone help me and tell what that means.
first time i was diagnosed hiv ( 3 months ago ) they did test for hep and it was non reactive for a b and c and they gave me vaccine for a and b
is it possible that because of vaccine can show reactive result?
