Title: Sex in Thailand
Post by: wert on April 20, 2010, 10:24:50 am
Hello all.

Just recently returned home from a trip to Thailand.

Basically, on the 3rd or 4th night I had sex with a girl in a massage parlour. This was protected sex from start to finish, and to my knowledge, the condom did not break, nor did it come off at any time, though it might have slightly slid down the shaft.

I pulled the condom off and came on her, and basically immediately after i rinsed my penis thoroughly with water.

Now I know I will be told I had no risk due to the use of a condom and the fact it didnt break (that I know of) but I am concerned of a few things. Please read these factors.

*The day after I noticed what appeared to be a blood sport on the head of my penis. This was a perfect round shape, about 2mm wide and was red. Obviously HIV wouldnt present itself this quickly but who knows.

*From this point on during my holiday I was having daily diaorreah and during one of the days of my 2.5 week holiday, I had SEVERE gastro. I still have diaorreah and I returned home yesterday.

*Had a loss of apetite from around that period, probably due to the guilt of cheating on my gf with a hooker?

Please bear in mind, this was my very first time on holiday overseas, and just happened to be a south east asian country. Are all these reactions probably just something I ate?

Any help would be appreciated. Am I being paranoid over nothing?

Thanks.

Hi wert,

I grew up in Thailand and can suggest that GI upsets are not uncommon.  I always plan for one since I return "home" to BKK one a year for at least a month - some of them I would explain as "severe".  Not having experience travelling to this area sometimes those upsets can be exacerbated.  The loss of appetite can be emotional like the infidelity, but can be tied to the GI distress as well.

Keep in mind condoms offers "safer sex" and some figures I have seen in the last while is that they are 85% efficient, so I wouldn't tell you that there is "no risk".

I would go see a Dr. immidiately in regards to that 2mm blood spot on the head of your penis.  I would hypothesize that given your recent sexual history that the Dr. will want to screen you for multiple infections including HIV.

Cheers.

You had protected intercourse. Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission. You would definitely have known if the condom failed because when that happens it's not about a teeny hole or anything like that. When it goes it ends up looking like a fringed hoop on your penis.

As for your "symptoms," those are something to discuss with your doctor. There is nothing HIV specific about them. There is no need for HIV testing nor for further concern on your part about HIV in relation to this incident.

Cheers.

Thanks for your response Andy.

I cant help but think that if this woman was HIV+, could any infectious fluid have gotten into the condom onto the head of my penis? Or when I took the condom off to come on her, could any fluids have contacted the head of my penis creating infection in that way?

Am I being paranoid over nothing Andy?

Thanks.

Condoms, properly used, provide excellent protection against HIV infection. Removing them doesn't allow "infectious fluids" to come in contact with the head of your old fella.

As Andy notes, you were not at risk and you do not need to be tested for HIV.

You're welcome. Continue to use condoms every time in the future and you will be well protected against the sexual transmission of HIV.

Cheers.

Hi Andy.

I have just been to a brothel, obviously a condom was used but it kept sliding down the shaft nearly to the head, but never came off. Is this a cause for concern?

What IF the girl was on her monthlys and some blood managed to find its way under the condom onto the head of my penis? Would this pose a serious risk?

I wouldnt have seen any blood as the condom was pink/red and the lights in the room were red. I have sinced washed everything down below vigorously about 6 times in the last hour.

Am I worrying needlessly?

No it wasn't a risk. As long as the head of your penis was covered you were protected. You might want to find condoms that are more your size if you are having a slipping concern.

Hmm ok. I have a paranoid personality, forgive the questions.

In a brothel I dont think they allow you to use your own, they always supply. And as for finding the right size, I think its more of a problem with my length than girth.

So you are adamant that aslong as the condom does not slip off completely everything is a source of joy?

The only thing that needs to be kept covered is the head of your penis. HIV does not go through the shaft of your penis nor the gland (head) it goes through the urethea.

So basically HIV infected vaginal fluids have little to no chance of somehow getting under the condom and travelling down the end and into the urethra?

Yes. Exactly. You are worrying needlessly.

Get on with your life.

Once again, thank you gentlemen.

I will need to accept the fact that when a condom doesnt slip off, I will remain healthy. If I have any firther issues dealing with this, I shall seek mental help  ;D

No love without a glove !!!!!

Cheers.
