Help..dealing with lot of stress & anxiety
« on: August 10, 2013, 12:08:57 pm »
Hi,will try to keep this short. On 23rd Jul had unprotected oral(received from a female with unknown HIV status) followed be protected intercourse @ massage parlour. I got a PCR test done which came back negative on 31st Aug.
5th Aug started feeling discomfort in penile area & back pain.Started experiencing night sweats from 6th. Was diagnosed with prostatsis & kidney stones on 7th. All swab/urine culture have come back negative. Today std expert said testing for hiv is entirely upto me as it was low risk. Have been dealing with lot of stress & anxiety. Just need to know if i should get myself tested for hiv? Thanks for your time & your feedback would be most appreciated.

JK, nothing you are reporting of your sexual activities would have put you at risk for HIV. You had protected intercourse. Perfect. Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission.

Getting oral is one of the most common of sexual activities. In the entire history of the epidemic there's never been a confirmed case of transmission to a guy in that manner. It's safe to say you will not make history by becoming the first.

So whatever is causing your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV and there is no need for further HIV testing on your part. This is not an HIV situation. Period.

If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

Thanks a lot Andy.so even if there were possible ulcers or sores etc in her mouth this does not change your no test required stance?Actually the std doc mentioned that although very low, transmission may be possible if these sort of lesions were present in the mouth.

Getting a BJ is not a risk for HIV . There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.) These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years. The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex. Any kind of oral sex.

These studies yielded NO infections.

The saliva in your mouth ( and hers ) contains proteins and enzymes that damage the HIV virus rendering it unable to infect ... so no risk .

No risk. Period. Whatever details you throw into the mix that makes you worry maybe your situation was exceptional, you are worrying needlessly. Getting a blowjob is one of the most common of sexual activities. You are not going to be the one to make history by becoming the first give confirmed to have been infected in that manner.

It's not happening. Period. Get on with your life. Really.

That is exactly what we have been telling you , no risk . If she had syphilis or herpes , chlamydia , gonorrhea you may become infected with those conditions . We didn't miss your question and would have told you if you had a risk to protect your health and the health of others .

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

These are the things to avoid if you want to remain HIV negative .

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

You didn't have a risk in the situation you described .
