risk from kiss biting?
« on: May 27, 2017, 08:06:47 pm »
Seven weeks ago, I made a mistake that has now caused me a lot of anxiety. I had an anonymous kissing session at gay gym in a foreign country. There were TWO guys involved and we were kissing back and forth. One guy was using his teeth to squeeze my lip and pull outward. When I left the gym, I saw a little bit of blood coming from a little knick on my outer lip. I'm sure he was kissing the other guy like this, too. I'm worried that their might have been a little bleeding knick on his lip as well. We were kissing back and forth. I wasn't always looking at their lips, so I can't be 100% sure if anybody was bleeding while we were kissing. Assuming someone did have HIV infected blood in the mouth, is this a legitimate concern for transmission? I know that biting normally isn't, but in this case there were multiple partners.

When I flew back home, I started PEP at 45 hours after the exposure. I was pretty good about adherence. I always took my daily Truvada. The other medicine was prescribed twice a day. I missed the second dose 4 times in the 28 days.

I'm going to the free clinic on Tuesday to get tested for HIV. I realize that there are other risks (like Hep B and C), but I'm more concerned about the HIV at this time. Thank you for reading this. I am grateful for this community and this forum. I am very interested in what you all think about my risk given my specific situation.

(1) Have any of you ever heard of someone getting HIV after PEP?
(2) Do you think starting PEP 45 hours in could be too late?
(3) Assuming that the other guy had HIV infected blood in his mouth when he was biting me, would you consider this a legitimate, serious risk?
(4) What kind of test is done at a free clinic? Is it Rapid? Accurate at 7 weeks?

I'm so sorry that you had great anxiety over a nonexistent risk.

Kissing is not a risk for HIV infection.

I'm surprised you were prescribed PEP, if this is your only risk.

In answer to your questions:

1) No, not in my experience or reading.

2) No, 72 hours is the extreme time recommended.

3)  No, the HIV is fragile and would not survive the enzymes in your mouth.

4)  I don't know.  You will need to ask.

Risk from my experience?
« Reply #2 on: October 25, 2017, 10:00:20 am »
Hi, I am male and last night I had another experience with a male. He was fingering my ass and giving me a blow job. I couldn't see what was going on down there but I am concerned that maybe he slid it inside me partially thinking I wouldn't notice. Clearly I have never had receptive anal intercourse, so I don't know what that feels like. Would one know if a penis was partially inside you? Should I ask him today? How should I go about doing that? I don't see why he would be honest about it.

He told me he was on PrEP, but I'm not sure I can believe him. Would this paranoia be a dumb reason for me to go on PEP?

Hi, First off I'm sure you would know if you were penetrated and nothing else you mentioned was even remotely risk for HIV.
You do not need PEP and it is safe to move on.

Hello, I find myself here again. Last night i was naked in bed with another man. He was siting on top of me and he said my penis slipped in his anus. I wasn’t wearing a condom. I didn’t notice it but he said it did.

The man is on Turvada. He showed me the medicine. He said that he uses it as Prep. I wonder if he is lying to me and is using it to treat HIV as he is rather promiscuous.

Should I seek PEP? I’m worried.

Even if he tested today all it means is he was negative some 3 months ago no good to you and in the window period he could still  transmit HIV. Him claming to take PrEP does not equal HIV negative and changes nothing.

If you engaged in unprotected intercourse no matter how brief it's a transmission risk. Test 6 weeks post exposure and again at 13 weeks for a conclusive result, also test for easier to transmit STI's

Taking PEP is up to you, however if you are considering it do start treatment as soon as possible no later than 48-72 hours

Going forward use condoms!! Consider PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and test at the least yearly for STI's and HIV

promiscuous

Says the guy about the guy sleeping with him and that makes you what? An angel?

Get this into your brain, HIV has feck all to do with being promiscuous and effects people from all walks of life and it only takes 1 exposure.

Keep your judgement to yourself.
