Please Read -Am I Infected?
« on: February 20, 2009, 08:19:28 pm »
Hi guys new to this forum and just wanted to say my story and for people to tell me what they think if im infected or not.

I went to Mexico and gave a girl from there oral sex.4 days later I had a huge fever with a sore throat/night sweats, tingling numbness in limbs, extreme tiredness which last for about a week.

I had a HIV test 9 weeks after this event and came back negative but i still have some symptoms.

Is it possible to have hiv symptoms 4 days after the incident and should i worry about being positive on my next hiv test?

thank you

You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV so your symptoms are unrelated to HIV.

Although stories pop up from time to time of someone who insists they became infected from giving oral sex, those reports never seem to hold up under scientific scrutiny. By contrast, there are long-running studies of HIV-discordant couples, both gay and straight, who had only protected vaginal and anal intercourse and lots of mutual unprotected oral. The results have been that not a single sero-negative partner has become infected.

Your saliva contains over a dozen elements which very effectively disable the transmission of viable HIV, if it's present. Personally I have never known in more than 20 years of any guy to have become infected through cunnilingus. I don't see you as making history by becoming the first.

Those symptoms are something you should discuss with your doctor if they persist. They are not about HIV. You are worrying needlessly and I don't see any need for  you to be tested over this incident.

I have merged your threads. Please follow our rule and keep all of your entries in this same thread. As an HIV negative person you have no business posting in any section of the forums other than this one, AM I INFECTED. Don't do it again.

Obviously you don't have any awareness of how offensive your question is  in a setting where so many people are living and have been living for many years with HIV. If you want to learn more about HIV then do some research. We're not here for you to dabble in the subject.

As you have been told you didn't have a risk. Always use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse and you won't have any cause to be concerned about sexual transmission of HIV. It's as simple as that.
