protected sex- lymph nodes after 18 days

Hi all,
I had a protected sex with a girl exactly 18 days back , and she proformed on me unprotected oral twice, and i did digital sex with her, for a quiet long time, i penetrated real deep with my fingers, i bite my nails since i was young, but at that time im sure there were no open cuts or any kind of sores on my fingers.
I noticed last night a mild pain in my inner right thigh and when i checked i found a sowellen lymph node, then today morning i found another one (not painful) the same side of the groin area, is that can be the reason for those glands especialy that i read that the symptoms of HIV can appear from 2-4 weeks of the intercourse and now at my 3rd week.
i have to mention that i have skin inflammation on my both feet, the cut happened aprox 2 weeks earlier, but since the last 2 days its looking like an infected cut, and i have redness , tingeling and pain , especialy on the right foot.
that cut is the kind you get from a flipper when you walk more than 30 minutes in a very hot weather.

i wnet to the Doctor today and he checked my foot and it was infected then he gave me Antibiotic.
and then he checked my lymph nodes on my thigh and grion area, and he said its not serious because its not so big and not very painful. then i told him about my story , he did't seem worried !

My concern is HIV and other kind of STD's

please advice if i need to run a STD check up.

Do i need to run HIV test?

and what about those lymph nodes.

the doctor did ask if i had any flu-like symptoms or fever , and i didn't

DX, you can relax about HIV and your recent indicent. Nothing you did put you at risk for transmission. Receiving oral is absolutely no risk, as is fingering, no matter how deeply you penetrated including with biting your nails and any other details you have thrown into the mix.

The only confirmed risks for sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well protected from HIV.

We only deal with HIV here. We recommend that anyone who is sexually active ought to regularly have a full STD panel done. That means at least once a year.

Nothing you are reporting is in any way suggestive of HIV. If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

This is definitely not an HIV situation. Period.

No HIV or STD checking required and i can move on with my life right?

I did HIV/Syphlis/Hepatatis check up in May .. all negative , and i do that every 6 months ..almost.

the only thing i did't understand is Get DX

Hi guys ..

had protected sex yesterday with a sex worker, everything was fine till the moment the condom broke

in details:

she was very dry, and while i was having sex with her i pulled out for a while , when i was trying to penetrate her again, i pushed hard, and i felt the the condom broke i pulled out immediately and it was broken.

the time between inserting and pulling out was less than a second . and she was still dry , but definitely the condom broke when i was inserting inside of her .

what is my risk.


is it so easy to contract HIV from such incident . did it happen before ?


I'm so worried , do i need to worry?
do i need to test for HIV?

please advice.

Something else , i've heard about something called PEP meds , and its useful during the last 72 hours ?
what is that , and should go and get it ?

You absolutely do not need PEP because of this incident. PEP is not recommended for the insertive partner when the receptive partner is not known to be hiv positive.

Part of correct condom usage is using lube. Make sure you read all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them correctly and avoid breakages.

You really don't need to worry about this situation. The condom broke upon penetration and you pulled out immediately. I wouldn't even bother to test over this.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

DX, I am in complete agreement with what Ann has told you. I don't see any need for testing and certainly in no way for PEP. If you decide to get tested it's strictly for your peace of mind and not because there is a real need for it. A negative result is a slam dunk as far as I am concerned.

For future reference make sure you are using condoms that fit you properly and that are within date for use.

And when you use condoms every time, make sure you're also using plenty of lube so you avoid having the condom break. Make sure you read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can be sure you're using them correctly. A correctly used condom rarely breaks.
