Title: vector to get infected?
Post by: worrieddd on August 30, 2006, 10:43:29 am
Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Latin America. I have sex relation with a sex worker, vaginal sex with protection. But my worry is the next, I'm touch with my middle finger the vagina,( i didn't introduce)  less than 1 second, and i cant remember if a have an injure. Suppose that i had a little cut near the nail that wasn't bleeding but it was redness  i did a Elisa test 4th generation (antigen p24, antihiv1-antihiv2) after 19 days of the exposure and they thought negative.

1-what its my real risk 2 be infected?
2-its necessary to do another test?

thank u very much!

Whether you had any nicks or whatevers on your finger are irrelevant. HIV is not an easy virus to transmit and there are no confirmed cases ever of transmission in the manner you are concerned about.

You did the right and most important thing: you wore a condom for intercourse. They provide very effective protection whether you are with a civilian or a professional. Keep on doing that everytime you have intercourse and you will be fine as far as HIV is concerned.

I don't see any need for testing nor any need to re-test.

In general we do recommend that anyone who is sexually active should regularly get a full panel of STD tests done. That means at least once a year and every six months is even better. There are other STDs out there which are much easier to catch than HIV.

As far as HIV is concerned I don't see any cause for you to be further concerned this time.

Cheers,

worried,

Fingering isn't low risk, no matter what sort of details you want to add, it's NO risk. Not one person has ever become infected through fingering in over twenty five years of this pandemic and you will NOT be the first.

i have another doubt, I little scare, i cant remember if the condom didn't ripped, but i only remember that the semen didn't leaks out, coz i touched the top of the condom (was the only part of the condom where i looked after the relation), the sexual relation took only 5 minutes, and sex worker didn't have inconvenient to take off the condom from my penis. Whats the chance that the condom ripped?
thank u very much

If the condom would have failed you would have known it.

Worried,

You would know. When condoms fail they do so dramatically. They totally shred. It's the way they're designed.

No, you can't get infected by HIV in that situation. Water and semen don't mix, neither would hiv and to add to the water, is chemicals.

Cum floating around in a jacuzzi is NOT a risk for hiv infection. Hiv is very fragile and quickly becomes damaged and unable to infect a new host when it finds itself outside the human body.

You do not get HIV off environmental surfaces.

Instead of worrying so much and coming up with these scary scenarios which have absolutely no basis in HIV science, how about reading or re-reading the lesson on Transmission. You can find it through a link in the Welcome thread at the top of this section.

You worrying about your sister getting HIV from showering in the same tub you used earlier is so far out it's hard to take it seriously.  But of course you're worried right now and the mind comes up with all kinds of nonsense to bother you with.

You are really torturing yourself without any basis in HIV science. No kidding.

Worried,

Considering you never had a risk of infection in the first place, you can consider your negative test conclusive.

You are hiv negative and it's time to move on with your life.

At 11 weeks it would not be a false negative. (which I don't believe in false negatives). Your result is conclusive and you should move on with your life.
