Title: Swollen lymph nodes right after posible exposure.
Post by: jhondow208 on July 12, 2012, 07:34:39 am
Hi, first of all thanks for your attention and help, by checking your website I can see the amazing work you guys do. Thanks for that.

I am a 30 year old male, a few days ago I had sex with a prostitute, I really regret it for so many reasons.... anyway... Vaginal sex was clean, latex condom, not broken... French kissing the whole way trough... I fingered her over the clitoris area. My fingers were covered with vaginal secretion... I have a tiny scab in one of my fingers... Not too sure how old it is...

Two days after the encounter my occipital left lymph node and the one just beside my left ear were swollen, not huge but big enough to hurt... They stayed swollen for 4 days... That's the reason why I am posting here, I just found it very weird and freaking out a bit to be honest, I read the guide and I can see it seams to be low risk, I will anyhow test my self on week 4, 8 and 12.

I would like to know what you guys think about all this.

Thanks again for your time.

You are worrying unnecessarily. You used a condom for intercourse which is exactly what you are supposed to do everytime. They provide very effective protection against HIV transmission.

The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Nothing else you have reported of your activities would put you at risk for HIV.

Swollen lymph nodes happen for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to to do with HIV. It is not an HIV-specific occurence. If your symptom(s) persist you should dicuss them with your doctor. HIV is not the problem and there is no need for HIV testing.
