HIV- How long does it take to be transmitted?
« on: August 05, 2012, 11:50:55 am »
Hi all,

I recently (1 week ago) had unprotected anal sex with a male escort, where he inserted his penis inside me for less than a second. It is possible that if he had HIV, I am now infected?

He didn't cum inside me nor did I feel his penis touch any of the skin in my anus. I then made him put on a condom .

How easy is HIV transmitted? He was inside me for less than a second- In/Out- Not rough stuff or anything.

I am terrified that I have HIV? The next day I went for a HIV test, the first time ever- I am still wating for the results.

Do I have to wait 3 months before I know?

I know never ever to have unprotected sex again.

Thanks for all your help,

xxx

3 months post exposure is when you can obtain your conclusive negative test result.

Receptive anal sex is a high risk. However, from what you have described I would say the odds are in your favor against it having occured since it was only the one, brief time and was without ejaculation.

But you need to learn from this experience and not have unprotected anal again. You can have as much anal as you want but do it the safer way which means the insertive partner always has to be wearing a condom.

You can test initially at 6 weeks. If you get a negative result then when you re-test at 3 months for a conclusive result it will likely be negative again.

Call from the Clinic
« Reply #3 on: August 10, 2012, 07:23:33 am »
Hi all,

I'm just after getting a call from the Clinic in the UK where I recently had a test for HIV and STi's. It was my first ever test.

The nurse told me one of the tests showed up something on my throat that needs to be treated and asked me to come to them on Monday morning.

The nurse didn't say what it might be and I am wondering if it is a nice way of letting me know that I have HIV?

Does anyone know what 'something on my throat' might mean? I am terrified that it is HIV!

Thanks,

xxx

Please do not start a new thread every time you have another question or thought - regardless if you think your questions are related to each other or not. It helps us to help you when you keep all your thoughts or questions in one thread and it helps other readers to follow the discussion. Additional threads will be merged.

If you cannot find your thread, click on the "Show own posts" link in the left-hand column of any forum page, under your name.

I've merged your threads here. In the future please follow our rule and use only this same thread for anything you want to say.

Stop trying to "interpret" what the phone call means and just respond. Given what you have previously reported I expect your HIV result to be negative. And other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV so you'll just have to get in there and find out what it's about.

Good luck and keep us posted.
