HIV+ and Home Depot
« on: August 05, 2013, 09:56:44 am »
I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not but I'm sure somebody will redirect me if not.

I'm an employee of Home Depot and newly dx. With more than 300k employees I'm sure I'm not the only one. I thought it might be nice to connect with others. Dealing with the virus and having similar experiences in everyday life would help to share stories and how you've dealt with any work issues around being +.

I love Home Depot , I have a wish list of items as long as your arm from that store . The Home Depot near my house has lots of gay workers and customers , its nicknamed
Homo Depot  . I have also had good experiences with the pros they send out to do installations . I bought one of the barns with a loft in it and new doors for the house and Home Depot did what they said they would do on time every time .

I can't add anything to being poz and working at Home Depot, although I think you were broadening this discussion to all jobs.  I will say Home Depot and Lowes has been therapy for me.  We are there, almost daily.  I have to admit I like Lowes better.  They just seem to have nicer stores and more products.  We usually use Home Depot (we call it Homo Depot, too) for things like plumbing, wiring, and the basics.  If we're looking for plants, lighting, kitchen cabinets, etc, we use Lowes.  I worked at lowes, when I was 18.

I say it has been therapy, because since my dx, we have gone nuts doing things around the house.  We joke that we should buy stock in both stores.  We have paid their light bill a few times..lol.  We are literally there, at least every 3 days.  They are my favorite stores.  And, it has helped to take my mind off HIV, by focusing on projects.  I was impressed with Home Depot, when our second sump pump fell apart.  It was out of the return policy.  The manager sent us a check to cover the cost.  And, Home Depot will take those Lowes 10% off coupons from the Post Office moving packets.
