Hubby is mad at me - Update
« on: September 15, 2006, 12:12:08 pm »
Well hubby is pissed at me....why??

Because I called the Dr this morning and he has to get across town as fast as he can when he gets off work to see the Dr.

Why did I call the Dr? He has started getting a rash on his back. He came to me Wednesday night to have me look at his back because he had a place that was itching. It was a spot about the size of a quarter, red, raised, and had a few little bumps. It looked like he scratched a few of the bumps but one he hadn't gotten to looked like a little blister about the size of a pinhead.

Last night after his shower i asked to see his back and he had another place on his back but it was more toward the left side. The other place was more in the center of his back.

Hes had a rash twice before and it didn't looked like this one. He started taking Atripla about 3 weeks ago. He thinks I'm overacting and even raised his voice.

So I'm hoping when he goes to the Dr they give him a shot! Preferably with a dull needle....teach him to yell at me when im just trying to keep him well and healthy.

T,

You're right to do this. I can appreciate Hubby's annoyance but any significant rash must be seen to. I know about this stuff. ;)

Teresa,
He needs to go to the Dr.

A rash is a symptom that needs to be addressed. It is probably just an annoying side effect that needs to be worked through, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Big hugs to you!

Teresa -

It sounds to me like he has a shingles outbreak a brewing.  If so, he needs to get on anti-virals for that right away (the earlier the better).  The anti-virals have little to no side effects for most people.

Having suffered a recent skin rash, I applaud your efforts to have the Doctor shoot your husband. Which brings me to a question. Do you and your husband always shower together? Inquiring minds, and all that. :D

Hang in there Teresa.... :-*

You did the right thing.  Your hubby will /does appreciate it but like another said, FEAR makes us do strange things.  Sorry he yelled and I hope he apologized later but hang in there sweetie.  I'm in a new relationship and the man is a saint (like yourself)...Monday when I was out of pain med's and was not MYSELF  he ignored my bitchness and drove me to the clinic to get more med's.  People like your hubby and me are lucky...very lucky to have people like you and Chuck.  {{{{ Big Hug }}}} :-* :-* :-*

Teresa,

I agree with the others, you absolutly did the right thing in making that call. Your hubby will get over it!
My husband is not like most men, he will get himself to the docs when he needs to and for that, I'm grateful.

Please let us know how he makes out.

Well hubby just called. He said the Dr said it was shingles and gave him a prescription for Valtrex. The Dr told him it was good that he got in today instead of waiting until Monday.

Thanks everyone!

Teresa,

You did the right thing. And if by chance it is shingles, it's best to get him started on treatment to possibly help prevent a full and painful outbreak.

LOL, Teresa.  You did the right thing.  I laugh because my late husband used to get pissed at me when I called the doctor without telling him.  Follow your instincts, and don't always listen to your hubby when it comes to stuff like that.

Give him a big hug... :)

I hope it doesn't get too serious.  I hear it's a very painful thing :(

Having just recovered from shingles a second time in three years, let me reassure you:  YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!!!!!   The sooner diagnosed, the sooner on Valtrex, the less difficult the attack of shingles will be.  You have most likely saved your husband big time problems and suffering!  He is very fortunate to have someone so level headed and caring to watch out for him.

Make sure he stays on the Valtrex for the entirety of the prescription!

Hello Teresa, it is Eldon.

I am so glad that you DID make that call to the Doctor. Your hubby was more than likely irritated when you called but, deep down inside he appreciates your love and continued support that you are giving him.

Continue to love and support him through all of your trials. You are a strong woman.

Hello Teresa,

I didn't even see your update, informing us that it was shingles, before I had posted.. I guess I have to scroll a little slower :P

OUCH !! Calomine lotion works very well, if he get blisters. Just dab them very gently with the Calomine and cotton balls.. I have had shingles on three occassions throughout these past 21 years. Hopefully he won't have a painful outbreak as I did.

I started Atripla about the middle of August and developed a rash two weeks later. I began taking an antihistamine called Benadryl and the rash was gone three to four days later.

Started Atripla 8/18/06 and if I eat the right food when I take my meds, I get to go on a-trip-la.
