DIAGNOSED LAST FEBRUARY.

Hi everyone! Im Karl , 19, from Philippines.

It's been 51 days since the day I was diangnosed. I am very thankful knowing about my status, through our medical examination for immigrant visa, but the diagnosis destroyed all my plans in life, my studies which lead to stopping on my nursing degree. Im so scared that day, all my dreams were broken. Acceptance is very hard to achieve. Im hoping that I will live long and be able to survive. Im diagnosed with a CD4 count of 206.  I NEED HELP PLEASE .

Hi Karl, welcome to the forums.

I'm sorry for your diagnosis but I can't help but wonder why your dream of being a nurse is broken? (speaking with no experience in the medical rules)
You can't be a nurse if you're HIV+ in the country you trying to immigrate to?

It does seem to be overwhelming with the news when you're first diagnosed but given time and treatment, you'll get back on track. You're still young. If due to some stupid law that prevents you from being a nurse, I hope you'll find new inspirations to pursue. In the mean time, learn about HIV and treatments as much as you can on this site from the Lessons section. Knowledge will give you the control you need. HIV doesn't control you.

Welcome to the forums Karl. Sorry about your diagnoses but please understand that it does get better. Diagnoses is a shock mentally and physically but the drugs to treat this disease are very good. Hang in there!

Diagnosed in  May of 2010 with teh AIDS.

PCP Pneumonia . CD4 8 . VL 500,000

TRIUMEQ - VALTREX -  FLUOXETINE - FENOFIBRATE - PRAVASTATIN - CIALIS


Numbers consistent since 12/2010 - VL has remained undetectable and CD4 is anywhere from 275-325

Thanks guys for the advice and support.

Actually my doctor told me that I shouldn't be going to hospital for clinical duty, so I decided to stop my studies.

I'm on treatment already(Neverpine, Lamivudine, Zidoviduvine) and it sucks to take pills in.

Is there any ongoing cure research for this?

This is in the US of course, unless otherwise stated as a rule in your country. I don't see why you can't continue your study.

Hi Karl, welcome to the forums.

There are plenty of hiv positive nurses all around the world. Please do not give up on your dream and please do continue with your nursing studies. You can - and should - do it!
