Important Micronutrients
« on: December 30, 2020, 07:12:04 am »
It is pretty much well understood how micronutrients effect our health from a food based stand point. Here is another important link which is good news. Finally scientist are starting to put together the many roles of micronutrients in preserving our health from a dietary supplement standpoint. NAC is one of these important micronutrients as well as other key micronutrients which play an important role in supporting and aiding the functions of the glutathione pathway. NAC would probably be the strongest agent in this important pathway. Enjoy!!

Sure...The particular article that you are referring to that I posted has little or no perceived value to our hiv community.

Care to answer this question?
In section 4 of the article that I just posted a few minutes ago titled "Microbiota and Probiotics in Health and HIV Infection"

What did you find interesting or relevant from section 4 of that article in relation to HIV?

Sure,, I find nothing interesting about it, it's old news.

As you are the one who posted it what do you find interesting about it?

That's fine. Look I am moving your thread to off-topic as I think the majority of the posting is unrelated to HIV.

It might be old news for you and have no interest at all to you... which is all good and great.

But what about the person who might have never seen that type of news and might find some of the information useful?

Plenty of posts on this. You asked what I thought about it, I answered...
You did not ask what usefulness it might have for the community.

Anyhow, as the postings are as you said, little or no perceived value to our HIV community it's been moved to off-topic.

The title of this article which was published in 2006 is
"Restoration of blood total glutathione status and lymphocyte function following alpha-lipoic acid supplementation in patients with HIV infection"

In the conclusion section of the article it reads
"Supplementation with alpha-lipoic acid may positively impact patients with HIV and acquired immune deficiency syndrome by restoring blood total glutathione level and improving functional reactivity of lymphocytes to T-cell mitogens"

The link is below.

The title of this study which was published in February of 2016 is
"Prevalence and risk factors of micronutrient deficiencies pre- and post-antiretroviral therapy (ART) among a diverse multicountry cohort of HIV-infected adults"

This study examined 270 hiv positive individuals and the conclusion was that
"Single and multiple micronutrient deficiencies are common among HIV-infected adults pre-ART initiation but vary between countries. Importantly, despite increases in micronutrient concentrations, prevalence of individual deficiencies remains largely unchanged after 48 weeks on ART. Our results suggest that ART alone is not sufficient to improve micronutrient deficiency."

The link is below.
https://www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com/article/S0261-5614(15)00045-X/abstract

Although compelling, it still leaves room for the possibility that most of these individuals could have obtained these micronutrient deficiencies from a poor diet and not as a result of there hiv status.

I found this article to be intriguing as researchers start to take a closer look at the possible implications of this form of vitamin D which is not commercially available.
The implications are still just a hypothesis though.
