Title: Question
Post by: Codeblack on May 01, 2020, 01:28:43 pm
I had protected sex with a guy however there was blood on the condom when we got finished. He asked me a question that i didn’t know the answer too. The question is if your viral load is undetectable could you still transmit the virus from anal bleeding if no protection was used?

Hiya,

Welcome to the forum.

As this is a prevention question I've moved this thread to the prevention section. Here some of the more senior forum members answer posts and, you can ask any prevention questions you have within this thread.

So UD for 2 years and you have missed 3 doses, it's not an issue. You are overthinking this and dreaming up non-existent issues, relax.

Best, Jim

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if comdonless intercourse occurs, use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. to reduce your risks.

Also, we are a friendly bunch so feel free to stick around. New forum members are asked to post an introduction thread in the "Living with HIV" section. You know let us know how are you doing, what are your recent lab results are like, how is treatment going etc.
