Title: Possible HIV Transmission
Post by: jmain on September 16, 2012, 07:52:46 pm
Hello, I want to thank the contributors of this valuable website.  A few months back (more like 9 months), while on a trip to Mexico, I decided to go to a strip club with 3 of my friends/relatives.  Anyways, upon entering the lady stripper kissed me and I had chapped lips, maybe with a scab on it.  My question is, is that a risk for HIV transmission?  I also had two lap dances but they were short since I didn’t feel comfortable with strange women/sex workers rubbing on my jeans.  I know that I kept my pants and underwear on the whole time but I tend to worry about contracting the HIV virus constantly.  I pretty much wash my hands a lot and am scared of the potentially of environmentally contracting this thing.  I’ve never had intercourse in my life because I don’t believe in premarital sex too much.  I have a girlfriend and told her ashamedly about this incident and she seems to understand.  My concern is that I may have contracted the virus from 1) the brief kiss with my chapped lips or 2) the vigorous grinding on my genital area with my jeans on.  My pants had a zipper and I didn’t notice them unzip but I’m not sure if they did or not.  I appreciate the input thanks.

Also, I have been having armpit pain in both arms for some months now but I’m not sure if this is related to HIV or not and I feel fatigued also.  I don’t feel too comfortable going to the dentist’s office either because of the possibility of someone screwing up on a procedure and not proper using sterilized equipment/materials.  I feel that the virus is much easier to transmit than just penetrative sex and or using unclean needles/syringes.  Why else would there be so many infections per year, despite public awareness efforts?

You never had an exposure.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug abusers
Mother to child

This idiot that I went with to the strip club decided to put his hand/fingers close to my face.  I don’t recall him touching my chapped lips but if he had vaginal fluids on his hands and if he had touched my lips is that an exposure?  I’m curious that’s all, and I appreciate your input highly thank you.  ;D

No risk if he would have touched your lips or put his fingers in your mouth.

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

jmain,

You need to stop this senseless worry about environmental infection of hiv. If hiv were as easy to transmit as you are imagining, everyone in the world would be hiv positive by now. They're not.

As an adult there are only two ways you're going to get infected. One is through unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. The other is by sharing drug injecting equipment IMMEDIATELY after someone who has hiv.

Hiv is very fragile and is simply not transmitted through kissing. It's not transmitted through clothing. It's not transmitted by touching a female's (or male's) genitals and then touching your face or your own genitals. It's not transmitted by a mate waving his fluid encrusted fingers in your face. It's not transmitted by touching doorknobs or any other surface in the environment nor is it transmitted by going to the dentist.

I suggest you get yourself some counseling so you can get rid of this unnecessary hiv phobia before it ruins your life.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and don't share drug injecting equipment, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!
