just got back from my appt today and my count went from 12 to 55
the viral load is undectable. Time to celebrate question I used to drink beer a lot
and its been a year since I have had one. Has anyone drank while on there meds, is it safe.
My doc says go ahead and tryone, just makes me a little nervous. After taking my meds at night I feel drunk.

i am quite the opposite, never drank before HIV. Now that I am dating a guy in a band (yeah, I know, my mom told me those guys are "bad"...lol)  I drink on occasion, but not beer, yucky, I drink Rum, Bourbon or vodka but I don't drink much.What meds are you on? I am on Viramune & truvada so it is risky on my liver as it is but the Dr says it is ok in moderation. I am sure beer would be more gentle than the hard stuff I drink. When were you diagnosed?

Moderation is the key here (and don't be drinking/pillin' and driving), but I think your doc  is giving you good advice. Have a beer! You deserve to celebrate!

My doc say like the rest everything in moderation, and with that kind of news I would be bellied up to the bar w/ Martini in hand!

Rob, it's good to know you're doing well and moving along.

Moderation is the key about drinking. It's really good that you are developing a good working partnership with your doctor. That's one of the best tools you have for staying well.

   Glad you are experiencing improvement in your numbers.  Any increase is a good reason to celebrate just do it in moderation.  I use to drink quite a bit before I became positive.  By the time I got my diagnosis I slowed down considerably.  I have tried to drink since starting my meds and I do remember when I was on Atripla that I would get ill after I drank one beer.  Didn't happen with some of the clear liquors and wines, but one beer would make me sick.

   My doctor asked me if I drank and I told them no, which they replied, "It's Ok to drink a little".

   Like everyone else said moderation is the key.
