Why I hate taking the trains to work
« on: November 14, 2006, 11:47:37 pm »
Well yesterday morning I didnt feel well...not bad but not great either...it was my stomach.  Anyway, I get a seat on the train and thought Id be able to relax.  Then this schmuck sits next to me and whips something out of his knapsack.  He opened the aluminum foil and inside was a roll and inside that roll was an egg omelette with cheese and bacon and who knows what else.  Well the stench from that was enough to make me hurl.  I was pissed.  I can understand people get hungry but must they eat food that smells especially this early in the morning?  I have had a slight cold lately...so I started to cough...then I had an idea...I started hacking...he wrapped up his breakfast fast and put it away.

I also hate when I dont get a seat and Im holding on to the pole.  Then some other schmuck gets on and decides to lean on the pole with his entire back leaning on my hand.  But are people stupid?! One time I said excuse me...another time I just grinded my knuckles into his  back until he got the hint.

Knapsacks...ok I can see the need for them...but when boarding a crowded train is it too much to ask that they take the knapsack off and rest it on the floor?  Im tired of knapsacks bumping into me on the train.

When boarding a train, I always thought it made sense to get in as far as you can so that more people behind  you can get on as well. Why do people get on the train and park it right in front of the exit/entrance so no one can get in or out?  The stupidity amazes me.

Theres so much more about taking the trains that pisses me off...dont even get me started. LOL

Hey Jeff,

It does get crowded on those trains. There are so many different people from all walks of life with different personalities. It is a shame that some are so selfish to themselves. I used to ride the train so i know what you mean. It does not make any sense. People ought to have the consideration for others. We all got to live in this world together.

Make the BEST of each Day!

On the flip side, there are some characters on the train that are very entertaining.

Glad I don't have to deal with trains but has had the same experience with the bus system. One of the reasons for me getting my license which I have only had for 2 years. You would think people would have some sort of manners but most prefer to act likes asses.

Sometimes when I think of a train, I think of the train scene from "The King of New York".......loves Christopher Walken

You know one crowded PM rush hour, I saw a guy sitting jerking off!? He had a big box on the seat next to him and was near the connecting doors. When he saw that I saw, he put it away! LOL

One time a half decent looking guy started touching me...at first I didnt notice because the train was swaying so much.  I was getting excited so I tried to move away because I was embarrassed but he kept coming closer and I panicked then I just said "what the hell".  It was so crowded no one could see and it was HOT...but then the next stop came and too many people got off so that was the end of that. LOL

The minute the bus moved off, I started to feel sick.  I nearly made it into town, but just as we approached Oxford Road, the bus lurched.

haha I didn't realise you were a student in manchester.  I'm not surprised the bus made you sick though some of the bus drivers in manchester shouldn't be on the road!

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys ;D

LOL, I know what you two mean though, I sometimes use the buses on the University corridor to get to the clinic and between the buses, their drivers and many of the passengers it's never a pleasant experience; sometimes interesting though :-X

On a serious note i really detest bad manners wherever they surface and I agree that public transport seems to bring out the worst in some people, I was a cab driver for a while and now I operate mini buses so I've seen all kinds of behaviour, some of the worst of it from the sort of people you would least expect.

Oh well it's just the current trend it seems >:(

I agree food on a train is nauseating. What makes me laugh is MTA spent a fortune with their "See Something Say Something" campaign. So where are the cops? When they started to enforce some stupid law about holding up a seat , they fined a working class guy on his way to work at 3 am .
Yet try get a seat at rush hour. Like I said the laws here are capriciously enforced.
