Someone PLEASE HELP ME. AM I INFECRED?
« on: December 20, 2017, 07:40:30 am »
Good day,

This has been the most difficult and miserable months of my life, please help me.

28th of September- I had sexual intercourse with a woman and I had an accident where a condom broke for about 30seconds-1minute. I was miserable after this.

Within 24 hours, I took PEP for exactly 7 days. I stopped because the side effects were horrous for me.

6th of October-- I then took a rapid HIV immediately, it was negative.

I then took to the internet to add to my already extreme anxiety. Some were encouraging in terms of my chances of being infected and being circumcised, some mentioned a 6 months window period! 6 months of HELL.

1 December--Rapid HIV test, negative.

After this test, I started having body pains and suddenly had a white tongue. My throat and neck area has some tingling little pains. Have now and then light headaches. I feel like I have a lump in my throat but subsides after some time. Sometimes I have dry red eyes and persistent fatigue. There is on and off tingling feeling in my lumph nodes although they are not swollen.

15 December--I therefore took another Rapid HIV test, it was negative.

I have never had intercourse after this incident.

I am almost convinced I am positive. Can this negative test change to positive sometime in the future while I still abstain? It is like my life has stopped!!

Someone please help me.

Hi

The symptoms you mentioned are not HIV specific and some of them simply never have anything to do with HIV. If you are sick see a doctor and treat whatever is making you ill however please refrain from posting about them as we can not help you with symptoms.

Any approved antibodies test no matter what generation is conclusive at 3 months. Most people will develop antibodies at levels to detect by 28 days with outliers taking longer hence 3 months is conclusive. I am not sure what you have been reading online but its outdated by about 25 years.

Remember to also test for easier to transmit STI's when you do next test.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you very much for quick response.

I believe my 3 months will be in about 5 days. Will I consider my HIV tests+STI tests final at this time? Can I move on with my life after on that day?

It will be conclusive over the incidents posted here.

Remember going forward like all sexually active adults you should be testing for STI's & HIV as routine at least yearly
