since that time i have been very concerned. this happend around oct 2011 then 3 weeks after that i had a viral like illness with fever and diarhea. now for the last week or so i kinda feel my arms and legs are thinner than usual am not so sure but i mite be just hallucinating..
am going for the test this friday and i have a feeling it will be positive..the last time i had the test was june 2011 and it was negative...

Nothing you are reporting symptomatically is indicated of ARS.

Since you and your gf apparently are not as of yet in a securely monogamous relationship in which both have reliably tested negative together, that means for the timebeing you ought to continue using condoms every time for vaginal and anal intercourse.

You can test initially at 6 weeks after the most recent unprotected intercourse. Assuming you test negative, which I think is likely, then you will in all likelihood continue to test negative for a conclusive result at 3 months.

As far as your symptoms are concerned, discuss those with your doctor. I don't think they have anything to do with HIV.

You never read anything of the such about primary HIV infection. Wasting is mostly caused by ARVs. You are not HIV+ nor are you taking ARVs.

what i did find is that fat redistribution and lipodystrophy can both happen due to HIV itself or due ARVs..so thats why am really concerned

Has nothing to do with primary HIV infection.

In addition to repeating above what I had said previously, I strongly suggest you stop surfing the net. All that will do is continue to feed your worst fears to no good purpose. You're just mixing up a lot of bits and none of it will give you the answer that only an HIV test taken at the proper time can do.

They don't confirm negative test results. As you were told you can obtain your conclusive negative test result 3 months post exposure.

You still have a very skewered focus on this issue. A negative result at 9 weeks points the way very strongly to your continuing to test negative at 3 months.

Stop allowing your anxiety to make this situation more complicated than you need to. With that negative at 9 weeks I expect you to continue to test negative in 4 more weeks.

The important thing is that you had it on during intercourse.

There would not have been any risk for transmission hanging around in your pants  afterwards. HIV is a fragile virus and not transmitted in that manner.

There's a nasty spring cold going around. I've mare enough soup for my friends to feed an army. Perhaps that is whats going on with you.

Whatever it is, it cannot be HIV.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

i need ur help and advice again if possible please..
last august 2012..i unfortunately had unprotected intercourse with a girl i dated for a short time and she did tell me she tested for HIV some time ago and it was negative..so 3 or 4 weeks after that..i got multiple enlarged nodes and fever and fatigue and tonsillitis with pus...i went to the GP who did a few blood tests...HIV elisa was negative ...but acute EBV or infectious mononucleosis was positive and liver function was a bit abnormal which would consist with EBV..the symptoms improved after 2 weeks...but till now which is like 2 months i still have 2 swollen non tender nodes..they have reduced in number but only 2 are left..
is this likely to be persistant generalized lymphadenopathy of HIV ?

None of your symptoms are HIV specific. Leave your lymph nodes alone. Squeezing and bothering can create a real problem. Discuss them with your doctor as well as any other symptom you may have.

HIV is more difficult to transmit from female to male than the other way around. And you're talking about a single unprotected incident. The likelihood is you will come out of this ok. You can test at 6 weeks and if you get a negative result the likelihood is you will continue to test negative at 3 months for a conclusive negative.

You need to stop putting your health at risk. You can have all the intercourse you want and with anyone regardless of their HIV status. But you need to consistently do it the safer way which means always, without exception, using a condom everytime.

I expect you to come through  ok when you get tested, but stop doing risky things.

There's no point in speculating because only an HIV test taken at the appropriate time will give you the answer you want. If you haven't tested yet you can do so now since you're at something past 2 months.

Assuming you test negative which I still think is likely then you will more than likely test negative at 3 months for a conclusive result. Or you can just wait until 3 months and get tested then since you're probably just a few weeks away from that point.

Keep your hands off of your lymph nodes. They are very sensitive to touch. If they stay sensitive you need to discuss them with your doctor. As I said before that is not an HIV-specific symptom.

why wud the Lymph nodes still be swollen..? am very worried this is latent HIV infection...the thing is if i do test next month and its negative i'll probably need to test again in 6 months.

mr,

Lots of things can cause swollen lymph nodes, including touching them all the time to see if they're swollen. If you're worried about yours, see a doctor.

The testing window has been three months for years now. Provided you test at three months past your last incident of unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, you will have an accurate result.

You will NOT need to test again in six months unless you neglect to use condoms again. It's a lot simpler to use condoms, don't you think?

mr,

I have never heard of primary hiv infection causing an enlarged spleen. Mono, however, can, and just because you didn't get it right away doesn't mean you don't have it now, from the mono. Go see your doctor.
