Unfortunately I had to work in our yard all weekend, and I noticed there were no bees, of any kind. We usually have them everywhere. anyone else notice this?

That's interesting you brought that up.  I was watching Bill Mahr Sunday night and he was talking about that very thing.  His reasoning, which is based on science, is that with all the toxic chemicals and poisonous gasses in the air, the bees are being killed off.  Has to do with the whole global warming thing.  He also said that without the bees, the flowers' pollen won't be spread and eventually there will be no more flowers.  It was interesting.
I've never killed anyone, but I frequently get satisfaction reading the obituary notices.-Clarence Darrow

I have read several articles blaming it on increase cellphone usuage, it either is killing them or screwing up their internal homing.

I heard the cell phone theory too about the bees. Since I have a reaction when I get stung by them I hope they stay far away from me.

I don't know where your bees are, but ours are outside and that's where I want them to stay. You want bees, come here and get all you want. We don't have Africanized bees here to date, so you won't get stung that many times.   ;)

I worked in my flower beds over the weekend and we have no shortage of bees, bumble bees, and wasps here at my house. I saw them all flying around.

I hate freaking bees, I am just saying that in Houston, I dont see any.
Speaking  of Sheryl Crow, did you also read about the sleeve thing she or Davids wife is trying to market? Instead of napkins, you wipe your face and hands on this sleeve thing and then when you get home you wash it. Cool, huh? I wonder if you can use it for toilet paper too?

please remember if the flowers don't get pollinated no tree fruit like apples and pears and wouldn't that be a sad thing.  my neighbor was a bee keeper and they are a busy interesting lot.  also no bees and i won't be able to get my api therapy.  yes, that's right, some off us actually have ourselves stung on purpose for medicinal reasons.

Jack, when I lived in Dallas, I always wondered where all the birds were. I know what you're going to say, "they went with the bees."  ;)

Bees are apparently dying from a bee epidemic of mites or something like that.

Good riddance to them all.

Albert Einstein -  "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years left to live."
In a harrowing article, Michel Dogna, health journalist from France, sounds the alarm about what may be one of the biggest ecological catastrophes developing right under our own eyes - and no one seems to be watching. As the bees are being decimated by a toxic seed coating agent, our entire food supply is threatened. Plants need bees for pollination, especially the plants we grow for food. Obviously, our busy friends are not part of the equation of the global chemical and food cartels.

I hope all the bee's are lying dead under a rolled up newspaper or on their backs covered in bee and wasp killer. I am normally a loving person of all gods creatures but wasps and bee's send shivers down my spine.

Anything that can defy the laws of physics is wrong just wrong.

Love to you all (except wasps and bee's of course)

The problem has been labeled as CCD, or Colony Colapse Disorder. Theories have run  from the cell phone theory (CCD predates the cellphones and is prevalent where the cell towers don't yet exist) to mites (believed to be the most likely cause). The most severly affected are those who own large numbers of colonies that they move around from field to field to provide the neccessary polination for our food supplies. Heard yesterday of one person who lost 160 of his 180 colonies or hives. If it continues it could mean the end of life on earth as they are needed to polinate ALL of the fruits and vegetables we need to survive.

Just like the the frogs all dying.  We are at the turning point of an ecological collapse ... will science and technology prevent this, who knows, but it going to be an interesting couple of decades....

I like bees.  They pollinate my flowers, which leads to seeds I can collect and use years later to grow more of the same, or share with friends. I find if I'm down working with the plants, the bees are often with me, sometimes just inches from my hands.  We're working together.

I got stung a few years back, when I was gardening wearing some tiny yellow jogging shorts, and the bee kept buzzing around my ass.  I finally swatted at him, and I smashed him alright, also smashed his stinger right into my ass.  More gardening karma.

However, when it comes to red wasps and yellow jackets...DIE F**KERS DIE! I spray you with Raid, knock down your nest and then piss on it!

Einstein said without bees all human life would cease to exist in four years.

I saw a Global Warming program a few weeks back and they mentioned this bee issue. The reduction of bees in nature is not a good sign for humanity. They are key in the balance of nature because of pollination. Without this the whole ecological thing will go off balance and we will pay the consequences. I am allergic to insect stings and a sting sends me to the hospital, but I'd rather be in a hospital because of a bee sting than not having bees around. I don't care about the disappearance of wasp's after hurricane Georges hit Puerto Rico, but the disappearance of bees is really worrying me.  :o
