Title: time of day for meds
Post by: debsd222 on October 01, 2010, 08:14:48 pm
Hi all... I have been taking reyataz, truvada and norvir for about 2 years. Someone told me they can keep you awake so I switched to taking them in the am (Im a terrible insomniac) but I wonder if they are lending to some of my difficulty concentrating or memory lapses during the day. Has anyone heard of this combo causing either the insomnia or daytime fuzziness?  I checked my "side effects" paperwork for the drugs but they are pages and pages. thanks, Deb

Hi Deb,

I also take this combo.

Sometimes I wake up a bit groggy and lightheaded ( I have mine after dinner)

A strong cup of coffee or two seems to help get me going...

I do weird shifts, 12 hrs 7 days then 12 hrs 7 nights for 14 days straight then have 7 off. The night shifts are difficult at times (hell, so are the days sometimes! LOL) but I get by with the occasional red bull and try to get at least 7 hrs of sleep which is very hard sometimes...

Have not thought much about switching to the morning instead of night, let us know how the switch goes and good luck!!!....

Peace....

(edited for spelling)

Some coincidence !

you're asking this question the very same day I am shifting my timing (on a different combo (viramune+Epzicom)) because
I was initially taking the Epzicom (Kivexa) at 7 PM. 2 weeks after shifting to 7 AM (because my doc suggested that if I felt it keeps me awake, I should shift)
I started having a mild to severe tension in the jaw that would not go away. I am shifting back to the initial timing.
The experiment is not yet conclusive but I will give it some more weeks (the tension in the jaw, mimicking stress) triggered 2 weeks after timing change

I'll report in my thread on viramune+Epzicom. But , yes, at this time I suspect timing can have some influence.

Cheers Eric

Has anyone heard of this combo causing either the insomnia or daytime fuzziness?

I've taken Truvada+boosted Reyataz in the mornings for about 18 months now and do not experience any noticeable side effects such as insomnia or "daytime fuzziness."  I chose to take them in the morning just because my morning schedule is much more predictable than my evening one.
