Odefsey question
« on: May 12, 2017, 08:29:18 pm »
Hello everyone

I am currently on Tivicay and can't tolerate it's bloating symptoms any longer. Sometimes I am even afraid to eat food. I am thinking about going back to Viramune but before that I wanted to give Odefsey another try.

A several months back I tried Odefsey for about a month and noticed a terrible mood symptoms (cloudiness, mild consistent depression, lethargy, feeling like you never woke up, and getting tired a couple hrs after waking up etc...) which made me switch back to Tivicay. I was wondering if anyone despite the mood symptoms continued to take Odefsey and if so if those symptoms ever went away.

Thank you so much in advance.

My doctor switched me from Atripla to Odefsey last year but I noticed no difference in mood, energy level, etc. -- I've taken anti-depressants for many years so maybe they counteract the depressive effects.  When I began Atripla in 2015 I was worried about the sustiva side effects but, aside from a few weird dreams, I felt no different and didn't get more depressed or have the mental fogginess some have.  My CD4 rarely reaches 200 but my VL was undetectable after a month on Odefsey, an improvement over a VL of around 40 on Atripla.

Sorry I can't answer your questions directly.  Maybe you can try Odefsey again and talk to your doctor about strategies to combat the side effects?  I took Viramune for a few months and it made me feel awful so each person can react differently to meds.

Depression is not something to take lightly and if i was you and this med made its effect worse I would not be going back to it without serious thought and sit down with my doctor.

End of the day if any side effects they either settle or are manageable if any. If you are finding that it's neither managble or does not settle after a few months than talk to your doctor on switching or managing any issues differently would be the way to go I think.
