Title: RIP - Dr. R. Scott Hitt

Dr. Hitt was my first HIV physician from '94 - 1999. He was a good man.

In '94 my numbers were poor. He got me in the door for a Merck clinical trial at the last minute, and I was one of the 1/3rd of participants who ended up fortunate enough to be given both medications (and no placebo). No doubt in my mind that it saved my life, as the writing was on the wall, and these meds weren't approved until nearly 2 years later.

He was one of the finest HIV doctors in the country at the time, and well-connected, and I was very lucky to fall under his care exactly when I did.

Life takes some weird twists, you know? If you had told me then that I would be here and he would be gone...well, no one would have believed you.

RIP Dr. Hitt.
and thanks for everything.

There are all kinds of heroes in the epidemic and most of them will never be known to the world at large.

RIP, Dr. Hitt.

Thank you for posting a nice testimony about a care giver you admired.
You have my sympathies.
