Before I start planning this years Meet & Greet I'd like to here everyone's suggestions. What do you expect from this main event? Fort those of you who attended last year please give me your feedback as to what you liked and didn't like about the evening. Was the evenings entertainment an asset or was it a distraction? Was the event long enough and was the amount and type of food sufficient? Any and all feedback welcomed.
Thanks
Dennis

We gathered together to socialize and we were having a dandy time of it. Personally, I felt as though the scheduled comedian was an interruption to an otherwise terrific evening.
I consumed one finger food and it was delicious. It's just my personal preference not to eat while cocktailing.
I did note how it all disappeared, though! :P

Thom and I liked the venue. It was perfect. We agree with Mike. The Comedian was disruptive to the evening. We thought that our group was entertaining all by ourselves.
The finger food was very good. We both like that sort of munching while we are doing cocktails.
Now as for Mexico City, la Rosa Zona is in the gay red light district so perhaps a suitable performer might be in order.

HAHAHA! You pervs, I'm right there with you, but I'm thinking a juggler or balloon sculptor would be appropriate since we'll be serving Shirley Temples to Mini and her mom!
I loved the food and would've/should've eaten more, and probably will if available so I don't drink as much. Many of you know I was over-served in San Francisco; fortunately Robert and Jan and Rocky and everyone who stayed late got my back and brought my stuff home safe.
In all honesty, it was great just having an appropriate-sized space with a bar, a microphone to address the group, and adequate transportation to and from our hotel.
I've thought that it might be fun to be our own entertainment, like perhaps Karaoke, or some type of "awards" presentation (but not lip-syncing; because no, absolutely not, Robert, will Mama Cass make an appearance in Mexico.)

oh creighton....
you've raised so many issues I don't even know where to begin.
Robert and Jan and Rocky and everyone who stayed late got my back and brought my stuff home safe
uh? I sorta, vaguely remember this. Does this mean we didn't come back to the hotel together? You mean all that was just a dream?
adequate transportation to and from our hotel
.
The more I drink, the more I'm up for a little adventure which usually includes a walk home with sly glances at the scenery ( So transportation not a biggy for me.
...like perhaps Karaoke...
.
I can always sing back-up but that's about it.

Karaoke . . . does this mean that I have to dust off my old, and I mean old, Carol Channing routine? You know "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and who doesn't love "Hello Dolly"? But ladies and gentlemen, now that that the airlines are imposing extra charges for addition bags the steamer trunk will have to be left in Milwaukee.
-
Well then...if we are sans steamer trunk, then we just may have to settle for the Mexican Hat Dance! After a hefty enough amount of tequila, there's no telling what the "meet and greet" may turn into.... :P

I thought last year's meet and greet was perfect..and i agree we could make our own entertainment..maybe a little pancho fashion show ..best one get's the award... ;D

I had a slightly different type of talent in mind, but I'm flexible.

In all seriousness though, I thought last year's, and the meet and greet in Montreal, were both a lot of fun.
Last year's was even better though because we had our own private venue rather than sharing a bar with others.
I rather liked that.
The food also was great. I know it disappeared very fast, too, so I know I wasn't the only one who enjoyed it!

Hi, about suggestions... i wonder if someone can help us. As you know the spanish forums were just launched, and it happens that there are some mexican members viewing the forums and they seem to be interested i joining your activities during AMG 08. I wonder if anyone from those attending the conference is fluent in spanish so you can perhaps participate in a thread i started in the spanish forums about this, some people from mexico want to attend but have no clue on what to do and whom to talk to.... neither do i.
Your help will be extremely thanked :)
Thanks
Juan Carlos (by the way, i think it is a good think that some native mexicans can join you during AMG since they know the city more perhaps they can help you out in organising some stuff...)
-
Hi Juan Carlos.
I have sent Jody and Mark (aztecan) a PM. I think they may be able to help you.
Thanks so much for asking. I think it would be fantastic if our friends from Mexico could come. They're certainly welcome, that's for sure ~~~
