Hey, it's March isn't it!
That means I have now been on meds for 12 years and am heading for lucky 13.
March 1996: Saquinavir, AZT and Epivir - 17 pills a day and massive projectile diarrhea.
March 2013: Isentress, Truvada - 3 pills a day and no gastrointestinal side effects at all.
I feel MAHVELOUS!
HUGS,
Mark

congrats Mark!
Our stories are very similar.
I started a bit earlier with the crapola AZT but got on the "good" meds in 1996 as well.
Switched a couple of weeks ago to the same meds you take.
(changed from Atripla)
My head is much clearer in the AM with the only side effect being insomnia.
(hope THAT goes bye-bye)
Happy to hear you are feeling Mahvelous!!! :)

Congratulations Mark ! BUT,!!, If you started meds in 1996, wouldn't you have been on meds going on 17 years ?
Glad to hear that things are better for you, on the newer meds. nice that the gastro problems ceased. I never had issues with that.
I will be on meds just 10 years this coming October.
Peace----Ray

Congrats on the milestone!!!!! Even if your math skills aren't as sharp as they once were, you're still marvelous.

I agree !!
Mark,...
You haven't forgotten your age yet have you? :o I remember having to as Ed a few years ago, whether I was 57 or 58. There was something about the late 50's , that kept playing mind games with me. I guess the years were just zipping by too fast. :P It's easy to remember 61, since big things are changing for me when I reach 62, in 9 months.
I always hated math, and mess up all the time ! It was my worst subject in school, otherwise, I am pretty much a genius ( LOL) :P

Yes, I will be 56 this year, although for the life of me, I thought I was going to be 57.
I think Ray is right, the years are just speeding by too quickly.
I am planning a visit to Lauglin, Nev., so I can feel young again.

I wondered about your 'calculation' when I first read the post...LOL.
I started the dreaded AZT in 1988. Added 3TC in 1992 (and there went the nerves in my feet!). Also started the Saquinavir in 1996, and it saved me from imminent death.
Glad you are doing well on your current meds with no "real" side effects.
Our ride wild continues, Mr. Toad....:)

My triglycerides have skyrocketed over the last two years. I take Reyataz, viread, isentress and a norvir booster. I am also bipolar and take zyprexa which can throw fats haywire. The strange thing is my cholesterol is under 200. Foating between 150 and 180. Im begnning the process of finding out WHICH drug is trowing everything out of whack....any suggestions or tips?
-
Hey Phillypinko,
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say it could be the PIs or the Zyprexa.
Were it me, I would ask your doc about the Reyataz/Novir, to see what he/she thinks.
HUGS,
Mark

Hmm...I think I'll congratulate you for managing to survive despite being on drugs for so long.
On a slightly different note...I haven't been on this here internet thingy as much lately so might have missed some gossip...wanted to know how things were going since your operation. Hope you have experienced success!

Hey LTS,
The surgery was a success. The hump is history, I hope.
There is still a chance it could come back, but I refuse to dwell on that prospect, and shall, instead, enjoy it while I don't have it!
I am still paying the bills, though. But, that's life in America.
HUGS,
Mark
-
Mark , I'm so happy to hear you had a successful surgery and are ready to rock and roll .

Great to hear Mark!
Must feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders.
(sorry, couldn't resist. :-[.)
Get your rest and I hope your recovery is quick and easy.

Good news Mark! But watch out for 57! Kind of makes one try to be 35 again and very resistant to the passing of time and to age 58.
-
I am SO glad Mark! I know it is something you WILL NOT miss one bit!
HUGS, Alan
PS now you can buy some new shirts, right?
