travel with medicatiion

hi all,
Not sure if i'm posting in right area.  Do you have to bring your prescription pill bottles versus something like a pill box for TSA?  Will be traveling within the US, not out of country.  I just don't want to bring all 4 of these bottles with me and look like a drug dealer.

mikey, i'm in aviation, for what its worth i leave the bottle at home and travel with a weekly pill dispenser that doesn't have the script anywhere on it. by the letter of the "law" you may be asked to produce a script, but i never have. that said, it is really up to the individual tsa agent, and my opinion of them is incredibly low.

I see no need to be rude about folks just doing their job.  I may not like the job they have to do, but that is a different story.........

To answer your question -- I believe that you are supposed to have meds in their bottle, but I rarely do that unless I'm traveling for longer than a week.  I usually just take my pill boxes and have never been questioned.

don't worry about it -- just enjoy your trip.  Of course, I'd recommend taking along more days worth of meds than you need -- in case of unexpected delays.

Because I look like a jet setting Prada-wearing international drug smuggler I've been yanked out of line by authorities four times since the mid-80's: Helsinki, Finland ferry terminal, SNCF train in France, Keflavík International Airport, Reykjavik, Iceland and Las Américas International Airport, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. 8)

I've also flown with liquid ketamine disguised in eye contact solution containers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

In 2010 I was taking at least two flights every week (for work reasons, I am not a jet-setter like Philicia --though I bet my mileage account is bigger).  2011 was just about one flight a month. Not one single time has any TSA, or anybody else, ever looked at my meds (and much less ask for a prescription). 

This is one topic that some pozzums worry about unnecessarily.

The woman doing the hand search tried to look utterly unfazed. I think there was an entire black leather outfit in there too. Must have been an IML Chicago jaunt during my Leather Barbie phase in the late 90's.

Thanks everybody for the info.  I think i will just play it safe and bring the bottles, I don't want to deal with any issues at 5am.

12' dildo would take up a lot of space  haha.

I wouldnt worry.  Ive travelled bot with and without my prescription bottle and havent had any hiccups either way.  Includingtwo trips to mexico this past year.

The one nice thing about Atripla is it looks just like a Centrum :).
I travelled to Asia this past Fall. Brought my Atripla, Fish Oil, Multi-Vitamin, Viamin D, and Niacin all in pill dispensers....No questions

I travel all the time. I take the bottles with me just in case I am asked which I never have been. My meds also always stay with me in my carry on so that the airlines can not lose my luggage and meds.

don't forget to take enough meds for a couple of extra days. You never know when you might get to stay over, get trapped by snow, and when another volcano might erupt and add a few days to the going-home part of your trip.
