do I need to test
« on: May 10, 2007, 10:08:11 am »
I need some advice from this site’s very knowledgeable advisors.  I have read many of the threads on this site regarding hiv transmission through oral sex and I am 98% convinced that it is a low to no risk method of becoming hiv infected.  I do however have a question regarding my particular situation.  I am in a monogamous relationship with a woman and we have both tested negative for hiv.  In February 2007 I got to drunk, (typical excuse) and I performed cunnigulus on a Canadian sex worker for about 10 minutes. During the act I inserted my tongue in her vagina.   I tested one week later for the full std panel and hiv to assure that I was not previously infected. All tests came back negative.  I was going to perform the 3 month test to assure myself of my status.    This act has been the only sexual act that I have engaged in 5 years other than my girlfriend.  What are my risks of infection and should I test at 3 months for peace of mind?  Thank you for your response.

If the information that you have given is true, then your risk is zero.

Rod is right on the money as usual.  You dont get HIV from going down on a woman.

I think guilt is driving your fears.   No need to test AT ALL over this.
LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A
RIDE!!!

Thank you both for your expedient reply.  The information I posted is exactly true.  I will forego the 3 month test.  Again thank you for the immeasurable assistance that you provide.

Giving oral to a woman is risky only in the theory. In the real world of HIV transmission just doesn't happen that way.

There's no need for testing for HIV.

If you're experiencing guilt and remorse just dump it overboard. That's the most loving thing you can do for yourself and your partner.

Cheers,
