Hi All,

May I just tell you what a wonderful job everyone here is doing. You guys are angels on earth.
Yesterday night was aweful. I did not get any sleep (anxiety) well until 5 AM, only to be awaken at 9 AM by the telephone ringing.

Here we go all over again. Over the past year, after not practicing any sex, I thought I would be comfortable with oral sex (gay). I met this guy and we performed 69 on each other. He came then on my chest. I know this sounds crazy, but although he was hard all the time, I did not even notice or taste any precum!
So here is the math: with 25 years in the pendamic and billions of blowjobs later, only handful of cases of transmission via oral reported (although some highly disputed), with no precum or cum present on my partner's part and fairly good oral hygiene on my part, I think I have better chances of hitting my state lottary twice or three times in a raw, then getting infected.
But my mind keeps wondering, trapped in this vicious circle. At parties or gatherings, I keep touching my forehead with my palms to see if I have fever (I have not had fever since 10 y.o. maybe). Luckily, I can rule out my tonsils as they have always given me trouble lately even when I had reliably tested beyond the window period over a year ago.
Most of my days are good, but some are bad lately. Hoping I would here a word of encouragement as I hang in there waiting for my window period to pass for me to be able to reliably test. This episode took place on May 19, so I guess it's been 25 days now.

Paul, fortunately feelings aren't facts. So you can feel your forehead all you like and otherwise variously narrow your eyes and watch for S Y M P T O M S.

The bottom line is as you already know that there's virtually no serious evidence for transmission orally. Is there a risk? Sure. Anytime you have sex there's risk. I don't see any need for testing in relation to this incident, but I do suggest to anyone who's sexually active that getting a full STD panel done at least annually is a good idea.

Should you decide to test in relation to this recent incident my expectation is that you will test negative.

Now it's your move.

Thanks Andy, your words make me feel better. I had two graduation parties today afternoon. Did I have good time? Absolutely. I really enjoyed my afternoon and even had a shot of tequilla (spelling?) after dinner.
Worry won't change anything, except it will make me sick. The bottom line is, I was smart to use my jedgement and not allow any cum (or precum in this situation) in my mouth, and therefore, I am going to feel good about myself. Does this mean I am cured from my anxiety? Probabely not yet. But hey, I am going to take it one day at a time, and today, I feel goooooooood. I always protect myself to the best of my ability, and whatever happens, I know I tried my best.
Hope will have a great night sleep tonight, because yesterday night was aweful.

It's been one week since my last post. I am doing great, just enjoying life, everyday life.
I had one more question to those of you who are more knowledgeable than us. I read in the lessons the following:
Within two to four weeks after exposure to HIV, a person might have flu-like symptoms such as fever, swollen glands, muscle aches, diarrhea, fatigue or rash. In rare instances they may occur within a few days after the exposure has taken place.
However, some other websites say that those symptoms, if they occur at all, will appear 30 to 60 days after infection.
Which one is true? 2-4 weeks or 30-60 days post exposure?
I wish you guys were here. I am eating this wonderful chocolate caramel cake. So moist and yummy!!!

The correct answer is 2-4 weeks. Don't pay any attention to "other sites." AIDSMEDS is the first and last word on accurate HIV information. You may also like to read our sparkling Welcome Thread.

Paul, do yourself a big favor and stop surfing the net for more sites to scare yourself with. If you continue doing that I can guarantee you that you will come up with stuff that is going to (incorrectly) fuel your fears.

You've gotten the straight poop here. If you read the lessons on transmission and testing and follow safer sex guidelines consistently you will have what you need to protect your health as far as HIV concerned. No kidding.

I believe the only people who have met are andy and the site founders/previous owners as they all live in newyork or thereabouts.

I live in florida... jonathan in atlanta.

For the mostpart, we've all never met.. but we do have a newly started annual gathering going for the second year now.

Dear all,
To those of you who are worried wells, I want to tell you about an experiment I just conducted:
You know about my anxiety about infection with the virus already. I noticed that whenever I dwelled on the possibility and worried, I would have symptoms or imagine having them. I would be monitoring my body like an eagle monitors its victim.
However, today I stayed as happy and busy as I could, for several hours, and did not noticing any symptoms anymore. The same thing happened a few days ago.
Ergo: The more you worry, the more your mind is going to play tricks on you and you will worry even more. The less you worry, the more productive your day and the less anxiety you subject yourself too.
Andy, you were right all along.

Dear everyone,
You have helped me in the past (over 6 yrs ago) but am back because I am worried again.
Am I in danger of being infected?
Two days ago I had an encounter with a man. I am a male too. During sex there was no anal sex, he just gave me oral and then, stupid as he was, he rubbed some of his precum on the head of my penis (I had precum too) before I could stop him. I do not know if he is infected or not. We are both circumcised.

We see this exchange of cum or pre-cum being used as lube for mutual masturbation all the time here - and it is not a risk for hiv infection.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. Not one person has ever been infected through mutual masturbation (even with the use of cum as lube) and you will not be the first.

There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!
