Terrified I have HIV - oral + blood from POS partner
« on: April 15, 2024, 01:51:03 pm »
Hi so I’m bit nervous posting this.

Basically, a month ago I received unprotected oral sex (I got sucked). During the encounter, which was quite rough, I noticed I had a cut on my penis that was very small but a droplet of blood came out. I wiped it off and the next day I saw there was still a tiny graze there. The person who performed oral on me also noticed a small bit of blood in their mouth from a tooth, but fixed it up. I think I may have caused a small injury during the encounter. There was also a lot of saliva from the person who performed oral sex during the encounter.

To make matters more anxious, the person who performed oral on me told me they are HIV positive after the encounter. They unfortunately did not disclose this beforehand and actually told me they were negative. They said they are undetectable but given they lied before I don’t know what to believe.

I went straight to the clinic the next day and they were very blazé about it. They refused to give me PEP and told me I’m not at risk for HIV. I explained about the blood and the fact the person is HIV positive and the doctors still refused PEP.

Ever since then, I’ve been freaking out. I’m meant to be going for a further test next week and feel sick to my stomach that I have caught HIV from this encounter. I’m also just really disturbed that I was lied to, I wouldn’t have continued with unprotected oral with a graze if I knew their status.

Saliva is hostile towards HIV breaking down the receptors needed to infect.

Perfect. You had no HIV exposure, no risk, no PEP needed.

Receiving a blowjob lacks the conditions required for acquiring HIV; a bit of blood, graze on your penis changes nothing, thus, it makes sense that after 40+ years of this pandemic in terms of BJs, there hasn't been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked"), and you will not be the worlds first.

Move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you Jim for the kind words. The clinic prescribed me PrEp.

Can you be so sure that there was no HIV risk? Like I said, there seemed to be blood on my penis and in their mouth. What if their blood got into the graze on my penis?

Asked and answered already. I did read your post three times before answering that you had no HIV risk.

Someone gave you a blowjob, who owes you absolutely nothing, kept their private medical information, which is no concern and has zero impact on you, private...you went to a clinic who correctly told you it's not an HIV risk, I agree 100% with them.

Get over it, talk to a therapist if needed but move on with your life.

I do wish you well but don't post about this again.

Use condoms & PrEP, get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B and get an STI screening yearly.

I’m not sure I appreciate your tone. I was lied to at the end of the day. I will report back after my test if it comes back positive.

I can certainly live with that.

So I warned you not to post about this again, it's now a 28-day ban*. I'm not going to pretend what you posted here was an HIV risk or needs testing as that would be a disservice to you and the community.

No! At the end of the day, you had no HIV risk, no drama needed. Nothing bad happened to you, and I'm not here to pretend otherwise. I get that you also did not like the clinic's assessment or attitude but I agree with them.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.
